In a February 1, 2022, EE Times summary, Apple, Samsung, and Intel were reported to have posted record revenues, while semiconductor-equipment supplier Lam Research reported results below expectations and dwindling sales. The contrast came amid supply-chain disruption expected to continue into 2022; it does not show that every company faced the same shortages or explain why their results diverged.

What did the February 2022 report say?

EE Times’ archive listing, credited to Stefani Munoz and dated February 1, 2022, summarized sharply different company results against a backdrop of semiconductor supply-chain disruption. It described record revenues for Apple, Samsung, and Intel, and lower-than-expected numbers and dwindling sales for Lam Research.

The report is historical, not an update on supply conditions in 2026. Its summary said disruptions were expected to continue into 2022; it does not establish what happened afterward.

Which companies were described as thriving, and which was struggling?

Company Role in the comparison Result described in the EE Times summary
Apple Technology company Record revenues
Samsung Technology company Record revenues
Intel Technology company Record revenues
Lam Research Semiconductor-equipment supplier Lower-than-expected numbers and dwindling sales

The summary provides no exact revenue figures, comparison periods, or detailed financial measures, so these descriptions cannot support a numerical ranking across the four companies.

Does the contrast explain how companies benefited from shortages?

No. The summary establishes that the companies’ reported outcomes differed during a period of supply-chain disruption, but it does not identify the causes. It does not say how shortages affected each company, attribute a specific advantage or setback to the disruption, or explain Lam Research’s weaker results. Treating the contrast as proof that shortages helped the three technology companies—or harmed Lam Research—would go beyond what the available account establishes.
