Yes—some TCL TVs have hidden screens that can show diagnostics, channel details, developer controls, or reset and update options. The right route depends on whether your TV runs Google TV, Roku OS, or Fire OS, and none of the reported shortcuts is guaranteed to work on every model. Start by identifying the platform; treat service-menu codes and remote-button sequences as model-dependent, and do not change settings whose purpose you do not understand.
Which hidden menu applies to my TCL TV?
Check the TV’s home screen and Settings menus first: TCL models use different procedures across Google TV, Roku OS, and Fire OS. The reported Google TV service menu uses an on-screen code; Roku’s screens use remote-button sequences; Fire TV’s developer options are reached through Settings.
| Platform | Reported access method | What it may show or do | Risk to consider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google TV | Enter a code from Picture Settings | Service diagnostics, including reported panel-hour and HDMI information | Service controls may change low-level factory values |
| Roku OS | Press a specific sequence of remote buttons | Wireless and platform diagnostics, channel information, reset or update tools, and other options | Some screens include reset or other system actions |
| Fire OS | Open About and press Enter seven times on the TV name | Developer options | Developer settings can change how apps are handled |
These are reported paths, not a universal TCL feature set. TCL’s support guidance cautions: “Reminder: Directions and menu options may vary depending on your TCL TV model, remote, and software version.”
What should I do before opening a hidden menu?
If you are trying to fix a picture, sound, app, or connection problem, use the ordinary troubleshooting steps before entering a service screen. A hidden menu is not a substitute for checking whether the problem comes from the TV, an app, a channel, or an attached device.

- 【Excellence Customer Support】If you experience any issues or cable failure, simply reach out to our dedicated customer service team. We provide a prompt response within 18 hours, providing you with the necessary technical support to resolve any concerns.
- Confirm the symptom. Check whether the menu or feature in question appears, and note whether the issue affects the entire TV or just one app, channel, or input.
- Try another source. Open another app or channel, or switch to a different HDMI source. If only one source has the problem, focus on that app or connected device rather than changing factory settings.
- Check the connections. Inspect and reconnect the relevant cables. For an HDMI problem, make sure the cable is seated at both ends before treating a hidden HDMI screen as the solution.
- Restart the TV. Use the restart option for your platform if available. For Roku TV, TCL’s official guidance says restarting has the same effect as unplugging the TV and reconnecting power.
- Check for software updates. Use the TV’s normal update path rather than assuming a hidden screen is necessary.
- Reset only if needed. Distinguish a picture-and-audio settings reset from a full factory reset; the latter removes saved configuration and requires setup again.
TCL provides separate support paths for Roku TV, Google TV, and Fire TV, and notes that menu labels can differ. If your settings do not match a published path, use the menus shown on your model rather than guessing at a similarly named control.
How do I open the reported Google TV service menu?
A secondary guide, BGR’s August 15, 2026 article, reports a code-based route for some TCL Google TV models. It is model-dependent—not an official, universal TCL code—so do not assume that a code that works on one set will work on another.
- Open Settings, then go to Picture Settings.
- Highlight Contrast.
- Use the on-screen keyboard to enter
1950. - If the menu does not open, do not cycle through codes indiscriminately. BGR reports
9735,6428,9705,6405, and6425as possible alternatives on some models; these are possibilities reported by that source, not confirmed commands for all TCL TVs.
The reported service area can show logged panel hours, HDMI status, and diagnostic information. These details can help someone inspect the TV’s state, but a service menu can also expose low-level values. Viewing a diagnostic is different from changing a setting: avoid editing or resetting anything unless you know what it controls and have model-specific instructions from a reliable source.

Can I open Google TV developer options instead?
Developer options are a separate area from the reported factory service menu. BGR reports this Android TV OS route:
- Go to Settings > System > About.
- Tap Android TV OS build seven times.
- Look for the developer-options confirmation and available controls.
Examples of options described by the source include disabling animations and viewing Bluetooth audio codec information. The exact labels and available controls may differ by TV software version. Do not treat developer options as a repair menu; changing a developer setting can affect system behavior without addressing the original fault.
What hidden screens are reported on TCL Roku TVs?
Roku’s reported hidden screens use exact remote-button sequences, most of them beginning with repeated presses of Home. Tom’s Guide, updated May 22, 2026, describes diagnostics and system tools reached this way; BGR also reports several of the sequences. The sources do not establish that every screen appears on every TCL Roku model.

How to use a Roku sequence cautiously
Use the remote’s named buttons and enter a sequence deliberately from the Home screen. If nothing happens, stop rather than assuming that the TV is faulty or trying unrelated combinations. The screen may be unavailable on your model, the sequence may not match its software, or a button may be named or arranged differently on your remote.
Read the screen before selecting anything. The wireless and platform information screens are primarily diagnostic; the reset/update screen can expose actions with a direct effect on the TV. In the channel-information screen, the source reports that the highlighted channel can be uninstalled, so check which item is selected before pressing a confirmation button. For ordinary restarts, updates, resets, or troubleshooting, prefer TCL’s normal Roku settings paths.
How do I open developer options on a TCL Fire TV?
A reported Fire OS route enables a Developer options tab through the TV’s About screen. It uses the settings interface rather than a secret remote sequence.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is the difference between restarting and factory-resetting?
A restart is a reversible troubleshooting step; a full factory reset is destructive. TCL’s official Roku guidance distinguishes a reset of picture and audio settings from a reset that returns the TV to its original state.
- Restart: On Roku TV, TCL says restarting has the same effect as disconnecting and reconnecting power. It does not perform a full factory reset.
- Picture/audio reset: This resets those settings without being the same action as wiping the whole TV.
- Full factory reset: The Roku guidance says this returns settings to their original state and removes personally identifiable information. You must run Guided Setup again, reconnect to the internet, relink the Roku account, reload streaming channels, and reconfigure live TV and inputs.
Because a full reset removes configuration and requires setup, reserve it for cases where ordinary troubleshooting has not solved the problem. Do not select a reset entry in a hidden menu just to explore what it does.

Why might a TCL hidden-menu shortcut fail?
A failed shortcut does not prove that your TV is broken. The procedures are platform- and version-dependent, and the reported code lists and Roku sequences do not establish universal compatibility.
- Check the platform. A Roku button sequence will not open the Google TV code menu, and Fire TV developer options use Settings navigation.
- Verify the starting point. Roku sequences begin from the Home screen; the Google TV report begins in Picture Settings with Contrast highlighted.
- Check the button labels. A remote without the named playback or directional controls may not support the sequence as written.
- Do not improvise. If the interface differs, stop and use the standard settings or model-specific TCL support guidance. Menu variation is expected across models, remotes, and software.
For a persistent app, source, cable, wireless, picture, or sound issue, isolate the affected component and follow the official troubleshooting path before making low-level changes. Hidden screens can provide useful information, but they are not required for routine maintenance and are not a guaranteed fix.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Roku wireless screen show my Wi-Fi password?
The reported wireless screen is described as showing signal strength, antenna information, glitch rates, and device logs; a Wi-Fi password is not among the listed information. Use the TV’s normal network settings if you need to manage a saved connection.

Do Fire TV developer options make every app compatible?
No such guarantee is established. The reported menu includes a setting related to apps from unknown sources, but that does not mean every app will install, run properly, or be appropriate for the TV.
Can I use these Roku sequences on a separate streaming player?
The procedures described here concern screens reported on Roku TVs, including TCL models. The available information does not confirm that the same sequences work on a separate player, so check instructions for the specific device instead.
