Synology 在 2016 年规格表中宣称读取速度超过 112.75 MB/s、写入速度为 97.6 MB/s，并注明性能会因环境而异。这是厂商公布的数据，不是独立测试结果；实际速度还会受硬盘、网络、文件大小及并发负载影响。官方资料没有证明该机型适合特定数量的同时用户，也没有确立其当前的媒体转码能力。
硬盘容量与 RAID：16TB 不等于可用容量
Synology 2016 年规格表和快速安装指南都记录了 16TB（2 块 8TB 硬盘）的配置。这是当年文件记录的容量组合，不代表任何更新、更大容量的硬盘都能正常工作。购买或更换硬盘前，应以硬盘的准确型号和固件版本查询 Synology 的DS216j 硬盘兼容列表；Synology 说明，硬件或固件变化可能影响兼容性与稳定性，即使列出的产品也不构成绝对保证。

因此，买家不应把“能运行 DSM”理解为仍有长期更新保证。还要逐项确认当前 DSM 版本是否支持所需套件、服务和安全配置。2016 年规格表曾描述备份、同步、Time Machine、DLNA/UPnP 媒体服务、Download Station 与 Surveillance Station 等功能，但这些旧版功能清单不能证明相关套件在当前环境中仍可安装、维护或满足你的需求。
现在适合哪些用途？
较合适的用途
- 局域网内的基础文件共享与集中存储。
- 已有明确可行方案的电脑备份或文件同步。
- 经当前 DSM 与套件兼容性确认的简单家庭媒体文件服务。
- 已拥有兼容硬盘、设备价格足够低且能接受有限支持的轻量用途。
购买前需要特别谨慎的用途
- 依赖持续系统升级或较长安全更新周期的部署。
- 希望同时运行多种新式套件、承担繁重处理负载或服务多个用户。
- 需要高于千兆的网络吞吐量。
- 把 NAS 当作唯一数据副本，或把 RAID 当作备份方案。
- 依赖特定监控、媒体或下载套件，却尚未确认它们与 DSM 7.4 的兼容性。
旧版规格表曾列出 Surveillance Station 最多支持 10 个 IP 摄像头、720p H.264 总计 300 FPS，并包含两个免费摄像头许可证。这些是 2016 年资料中的套件上限，不应视为当前可用性或实际性能保证；部署前应核实当前 Surveillance Station 支持情况。

安装硬盘前，如何避免丢失数据？
Synology 快速安装指南警告：安装含有既有数据的硬盘时，硬盘会被格式化并清除数据。开始前先把硬盘内容备份到其他设备，并确保重要文件在 NAS 之外另有一份备份。
- 核对硬盘型号：在 Synology 的 DS216j 兼容列表中按准确型号与固件查询；不要只凭接口或容量判断兼容性。
- 安装硬盘：使用一块或两块符合要求的 SATA 硬盘。若使用 2.5 英寸硬盘，安装指南要求配合另售的 Synology Type C 2.5 英寸硬盘托架；购买前确认托架当前是否有货。
- 连接网络与电源：通过 LAN 将 NAS 接到路由器、交换机或集线器，再接通电源。
- 在本地网络安装 DSM：用同一局域网内的电脑访问 Web Assistant，并按向导安装 DSM；该安装流程需要互联网连接。

如果购入价接近更新机型，或你需要更长的软件更新周期，DS216j 通常不是稳妥选择。若价格显著较低、设备状态可靠、硬盘型号已核实，且用途只是基础存储与备份，它仍可能是可用的旧设备，但不宜承担唯一或关键数据副本。
