These are community-reported troubleshooting steps, not a confirmed fix for every PC. NVIDIA’s release notes for driver 546.33 do not identify an SF6 shader-quality bug, and player reports disagree about which driver version works best.
What is known about the problem
Some PC players have reported a sharp performance drop after updating NVIDIA drivers. In a 2024 Steam troubleshooting thread, user Gohão said the game ran at “half its normal performance” after updating, then reported improvement after setting Shader Quality to Low. That is one player’s account, not a controlled test or confirmation from NVIDIA or Capcom.

NVIDIA lists GeForce Game Ready Driver 546.33 as a WHQL Windows 10/11 release dated December 12, 2023. Its official release page does not document an SF6 shader-quality regression or say that a later driver fixed one: NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver 546.33.
Reports do not establish 546.33 as the best driver for everyone. One Reddit user said downgrading from 551.23 to 546.65 resolved low FPS; that user later reported that 566.36 worked after re-enabling shader warming. These conflicting individual outcomes point to system-specific troubleshooting rather than a universal driver recommendation.

Identify what changed before troubleshooting
Separate a visual-quality change from a performance problem. Stutter during a first launch after a driver update may occur while shaders compile; that explanation does not establish that the game’s image quality has changed. Slow-motion gameplay, persistently low FPS, uneven frame pacing, and visibly different rendering are distinct symptoms and should be recorded separately.
Before changing settings, note the GPU model, Windows version, exact NVIDIA driver version, SF6 patch or build, display resolution, and the symptom. This makes it possible to compare results and undo a change that does not help.

Try shader warming and a quality-setting test
Enable shader compilation on startup
In Street Fighter 6’s graphics settings, enable the shader compilation or shader warming option on startup. Restart the game and allow compilation to complete before judging performance. Driver updates can invalidate or relocate shader caches, so the first run may stutter as shaders are rebuilt. Compare a subsequent run as well as the first one.
Compare Shader Quality at Low
Change Shader Quality to Low and test the same scene or mode, then compare it with your previous setting. Low is a reported workaround for at least one player, not proof of a general driver defect. If it improves performance, you can keep it as a reversible workaround or restore the former setting to check whether the result is repeatable.

Compare the available troubleshooting options

Verify files and rebuild cautiously
If the in-game tests do not help, verify Street Fighter 6’s files through the game launcher. If you want a clean shader rebuild, use only cache-removal steps documented for your game or graphics driver. Do not delete folders based on an unverified path: cache locations and behavior can vary, and deleting unrelated data can create new problems.
When to test a clean install or an earlier driver
If the symptoms began directly after a driver update and remain after shader compilation and settings tests, consider a documented clean installation or testing an earlier driver. Some players have reported success with 546.65 or 546.33, while another reported success with 566.36 after enabling shader warming. None is established as the right choice for every GPU, Windows setup, or game build.
- Record the current driver version and your SF6 settings before changing the driver.
- Use NVIDIA’s documented driver installation options, or its official driver page, rather than an unverified download source.
- Test the game with the same resolution, mode, and settings used before the change.
- If the result is worse, return to the recorded driver and settings using your planned rollback method.
Measure one change at a time
Change only one setting or driver variable between tests. Record FPS or frame pacing in the same scene, along with whether the game stutters, runs in slow motion, or shows a visual difference. No authoritative prevalence rate, controlled benchmark series, or measured image-quality difference for drivers newer than 546.33 is established in the available reports, so your before-and-after observations matter more than assuming a particular version is at fault.
