What Office Home 2024 includes
Office Home 2024 includes the classic desktop versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. Microsoft labels this edition for non-commercial use, and its license covers one computer. Check Microsoft’s current product listing for the macOS system requirements and feature compatibility before purchasing.
This is a one-time purchase, not a Microsoft 365 subscription. Microsoft’s comparison of Microsoft 365 and Office 2024 explains that the purchase includes security updates, but not new features or an upgrade to a future major Office release. To move to a later major version, you would need to buy it separately.

How to install the one-time-purchase license on a Mac
- Buy Office Home 2024 for Mac from Microsoft or another seller only after confirming the exact edition, Mac eligibility, seller, and current price. Microsoft’s US listing was $179.99 on October 7, 2026; the claimed $79.97 offer has not been verified.
- Download and install the Office apps directly from Microsoft using its Office installation guidance.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account associated with your purchase to activate the license, following Microsoft’s on-screen steps.
Do not download Word, Excel, or PowerPoint from the Mac App Store if you intend to activate them with a one-time license. Microsoft says the App Store versions require a Microsoft 365 subscription for document creation and editing, and they are not compatible with one-time-purchase licenses.
