How to add a game and get Steam sale notifications
- Open the game’s page in the Steam Store.
- Select the option to add the game to your Wishlist.
- Check your Steam account’s email and mobile-app notification settings so the alert channel you want is enabled.
Steam says: “We’ll let you know by email or through our mobile app when the games on your Wishlist are on sale as a Daily Deal, Midweek Deal or Weekend Deal.” You can opt out of email alerts or disable mobile notifications on Steam’s Wishlist Notifications page.

These alerts tell you a qualifying sale is happening; they do not guarantee that every promotion will trigger a notification, that the price is the game’s lowest, or that the offer will still be active when you open it. Check the live store page before buying.
Organize a large Wishlist
Valve describes Wishlist categories, improved search and notification controls for individual categories. Categories can help separate games you plan to buy soon from titles you are merely monitoring, and category-specific controls let you manage alerts for those groups. Valve also describes notifications for when a Wishlisted game’s demo becomes available. See the Steam Wishlists categories announcement for the feature overview; exact controls may vary as Steam’s interface changes.

When a third-party price tracker is useful
Steam’s Wishlist is the simplest option if you want alerts about Steam promotions. A separate tracker may be useful when you want to examine past prices, set more specific alert rules or compare offers beyond Steam.

Third-party capabilities, store coverage, regions and settings can change. Before purchasing from any store found through a comparison service, check that the seller is an authorized or official retailer for your region; the services’ coverage descriptions do not establish that every listed seller is suitable everywhere.

Choose the tracking setup that fits your goal
- Steam-only sale alerts: use Steam’s Wishlist and enable email or mobile notifications.
- Organizing titles and controlling alerts by group: use Steam Wishlist categories and their notification controls.
- Past-price context: check SteamDB’s price history before deciding whether the current offer is compelling.
- More specific rules or cross-store comparison: consider IsThereAnyDeal’s Waitlist and compare the available retailer, region and final price.
Wishlist tracking is not library tracking
A Wishlist tracks games you may want to buy; it is not a system for watching discounts on games you already own. Valve’s Steamworks documentation discusses how developer-facing Wishlist notifications and sales relate to titles on users’ Wishlists, rather than providing a consumer alert feature for owned games. See Steamworks Wishlist documentation. If you are looking for discounts on owned games, check the store or a tracker that supports monitoring a separate collection; the sources cited here do not establish a specific library-tracking workflow.
