Valve has added a Steam Deck framerate distribution chart to Steamworks for games marked Steam Deck Verified. Developers can find it in the Partner Dashboard under Technical Tools > Steam Hardware Compatibility Review. It adds context beyond an average FPS figure, but the chart reflects opt-in reports from players and includes loading screens as well as gameplay.
What the new Steam Deck FPS chart shows
Announced by the Steamworks Development team on October 1, 2026, the chart shows how reported framerates are distributed across participating Steam Deck players. It sits alongside average-framerate and customer-feedback charts, giving developers a broader view of performance as players experience it. Valve’s Steamworks announcement describes the feature as a way to understand real-world play, rather than relying only on a single average.
The report is for Steam Deck Verified titles; Valve did not announce access for every Steam game or other Steam hardware. To find it, open the game’s Partner Dashboard and navigate to Technical Tools > Steam Hardware Compatibility Review.
Where the data comes from—and what it covers
The readings come from Steam Deck players who opted in to share anonymized framerate data. Valve says a majority of Steam Deck players have opted in, but it has not published an exact participation percentage. The announcement does not provide a game-by-game sample count, so developers should not treat the chart as a census of every player or session.

Valve is starting with Steam Deck because its devices have a consistent hardware configuration, which makes the data easier to interpret. The announcement does not set a date or promise for expanding the report to other hardware.
How to interpret a low-FPS segment
A distribution dip can be useful evidence, but it does not automatically mean the game is poorly optimized. The Deck models have different stated maximum framerates, and players can set a lower frame limit to save battery. Some players may also use an external display with a higher refresh rate than the Deck’s built-in screen.

Valve’s example is to investigate when a significant share of observations is below 30 FPS and players also report performance or stability problems. That is an example for prioritizing investigation—not a universal pass/fail threshold, and not proof that every low-FPS observation is a defect. A loading screen, a user-selected cap, or a particular display setup may help explain the pattern.

- Open the report: In the Steamworks Partner Dashboard, select the game, then go to Technical Tools > Steam Hardware Compatibility Review.
- Read the distribution alongside other signals: Compare the FPS spread with the average-framerate chart and customer feedback rather than treating one number as a verdict.
- Look for a meaningful pattern: Consider whether a low-FPS segment is substantial and whether reports point to performance or stability problems. Keep Deck model, player-set limits, external displays, and loading time in mind.
- Choose a targeted response: Valve suggests investigating optimization or changing the game’s default graphics configuration for Deck when the combined evidence warrants it. Recheck player experience after making a change.
Steamworks is Valve’s toolset for configuring, managing, and operating games on Steam; the Deck-specific report is part of that developer-facing environment. Valve’s Steamworks overview describes the platform’s developer tools and services.
