The StarFive VisionFive 2 Lite is a compact RISC-V single-board computer for industrial and embedded projects, with maker and education uses also listed by StarFive. Its 85 × 56 mm board combines a quad-core JH-7110S processor, up to 8 GB of RAM, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and a 40-pin GPIO header. StarFive positions it as a lightweight, lower-cost member of the VisionFive 2 family, but published information here does not establish a current price or prove that it matches a Raspberry Pi in performance, software maturity, or included accessories.
What is the VisionFive 2 Lite?
StarFive describes the VisionFive 2 Lite as an industrial-grade lightweight board in its VisionFive 2 family, designed for industrial and embedded deployments. Its launch announcement also lists industrial IoT, edge computing, embedded development, education, smart-home hubs, and lightweight home servers as potential uses. The worldwide sale announcement was reported on December 15, 2025, by IT之家; StarFive’s launch page lists global e-commerce channels and links to retailers.
Those use cases fit the board’s published mix of network, camera, display, storage, and GPIO interfaces. They are not a guarantee that a particular operating system, peripheral, or application will work without configuration. The available specifications also do not provide independent performance or sustained-thermal test results.
VisionFive 2 Lite specifications
The following figures are manufacturer specifications, not independent test measurements. StarFive’s product brief is version 1.0, dated September 30, 2025; its specification page and quick-start guide describe the board and its interfaces.

What can you build with it?
The interface set makes the board a plausible fit for projects that need wired networking, sensors, camera input, or display output. Its GPIO header exposes common control and communication interfaces, while the M.2 slot and PCIe-linked USB port add expansion options. Whether those features make it suitable for a real deployment depends on compatible software, peripherals, power, enclosure, and thermal design—not just the connector list.
- Edge or industrial gateway: Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6 provide networking choices, while GPIO includes CAN, I2C, SPI, and UART.
- Camera or display prototype: MIPI CSI and DSI are available alongside HDMI, subject to support in the selected software and attached hardware.
- Embedded control or education: The 40-pin header offers multiple interfaces for learning and prototyping; confirm pin assignments and software support for the specific device before connecting it.
- Storage expansion: The board supports a TF card or eMMC configuration and has an M.2 2242 M-Key slot. Check drive compatibility and the shared PCIe lane when planning expansion.
How does it compare with a Raspberry Pi?
The Lite’s 85 × 56 mm form factor is compact, but resemblance in size does not establish Raspberry Pi-level software support, performance, price, or bundle contents. A useful comparison requires a specific Raspberry Pi model and the same workload; no comparable benchmarks or region-specific prices are established here.

Before choosing between this board and a Raspberry Pi or another RISC-V SBC, compare the factors that affect your actual project:
- Workload performance: Compare results for the applications you will run, rather than drawing conclusions from core counts or clock rates alone.
- Memory and storage: Match the RAM configuration and determine whether the board you are buying uses a TF card or eMMC.
- Expansion and ports: Check required connectors and account for the M.2 slot and USB port’s shared PCIe 2.0 lane.
- Software and peripherals: Verify operating-system, GPU, camera, and device support for your intended setup.
- Power and physical installation: Confirm the power supply, enclosure, and cooling arrangements your application requires.
- Purchase details: Compare current local price, exact configuration, availability, and what accessories are included.
What software does it support?
The VisionFive 2 Lite quick-start guide lists Ubuntu and Debian support. StarFive’s launch article also names OpenHarmony and says software ecosystems built on VisionFive 2 can migrate to Lite. Treat that as the manufacturer’s compatibility and migration claim, not a guarantee that every application, driver, peripheral, or distribution will work identically. Verify support for your specific hardware and software stack before committing to a deployment.

Where can you buy it, and what should you check?
StarFive’s launch page lists Waveshare, AliExpress, and Amazon Japan links. These are vendor-listed channels, not confirmation of current stock or a particular price in every region. The same launch page lists its 2 GB variant as out of stock on that page; stock status can change and should not be read as a universal availability report.
Before ordering, confirm the seller’s current regional availability, board price, RAM and storage configuration, and included accessories. StarFive’s product page is another place to check the listed hardware details.
