SplxAI announced a $2 million pre-seed funding round on September 10, 2024, led by Inovo.vc with participation from South Central Ventures and Runtime Ventures. The company said it would use the funding to accelerate product development, expand its team and scale operations. The announcement came before the company rebranded as SPLX in 2025 and was acquired by Zscaler that November.

How much did SplxAI raise, and who invested?

SplxAI announced $2 million in pre-seed funding on September 10, 2024. Inovo.vc led the round, while South Central Ventures and Runtime Ventures also participated. SplxAI’s announcement said the money would support product development, hiring and operational growth; it did not give a more detailed allocation. SecurityWeek independently reported the amount, stage and investors the next day. SecurityWeek’s coverage

What did SplxAI’s security platform do?

SplxAI described its product as an offensive security platform for conversational AI and large language model (LLM) applications. Its stated purpose was to find vulnerabilities by testing how an AI application responded to potential attacks, rather than relying only on conventional software checks.

Pre-deployment testing and risk mapping

The company said its platform automated hundreds of attack scenarios, including prompt injection, off-topic conversations and hallucinations. It also described CI/CD integration, monitoring for malicious activity, and risk mapping to MITRE ATLAS, the OWASP LLM Top 10 and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework. The company said it could test multimodal inputs such as text, voice, images, video and document attachments. These are SplxAI’s descriptions of its product, not independently verified performance findings. SplxAI’s product and funding announcement

What happened to SplxAI after the funding round?

2025: rebrand and runtime protection

On July 30, 2025, the company announced it was changing its name to SPLX and introduced AI Runtime Protection for AI applications and workflows. Unlike pre-deployment red teaming, which probes an application for weaknesses before release, runtime protection operates while the application is in use. SPLX described its feature as monitoring and filtering inputs and outputs to detect and block threats. SPLX’s rebrand and runtime-protection announcement

November 2025: Zscaler acquisition

Zscaler announced it had acquired SPLX on November 3, 2025. In its announcement, Zscaler said SPLX technology would extend the Zero Trust Exchange with AI asset discovery and risk assessment, automated red teaming and remediation, runtime guardrails and prompt hardening, and governance and compliance mapping. Those are capabilities outlined in the acquisition announcement; it does not establish the final state of post-acquisition integration. Zscaler’s acquisition announcement

Zscaler also said SPLX brought more than 5,000 purpose-built, domain-specific attack simulations. That count is a figure from Zscaler’s announcement, not an independently audited benchmark. Zscaler’s account of the acquisition
