Spellbook of Skill is a new, open-source collection of development guides by Domenico Tenace. It is presented as a companion to his Spellbook of Prompt project, with a different focus: practical skills for doing development work rather than deciding what to ask an AI. The project is at an early stage, so its value today depends on the guides available in its initial Content Creation category—and on the community helping expand the library.

What Spellbook of Skill is designed to offer

Tenace describes Spellbook of Skill as a curated library of development skills, tutorials, and guides spanning fundamentals through advanced topics. Guides are intended to be organized by category and difficulty and to give readers a practical path through a topic rather than a collection of disconnected tips.

According to the project announcement, a guide should state its learning objective, identify prerequisites, include a working code example, and offer troubleshooting help. The creator also says concepts should be language- and framework-agnostic where possible. These are the project’s stated design goals, not an independent assessment of every guide.

What is available and what is planned

At the September 21, 2026 announcement, Content Creation was the starting category. The creator described five additional areas as planned, not as already populated parts of a complete catalog:

  • Coding and development workflows
  • DevOps and deployment
  • System design and architecture
  • Design and creative development
  • Career and professional growth

Tenace characterizes the project as early and says the library needs to grow. That makes it more accurate to view Spellbook of Skill as an emerging, contribution-driven resource than as a comprehensive course platform.

How Spellbook of Skill relates to Spellbook of Prompt

The creator positions the two projects as complementary: Spellbook of Prompt is about deciding what to ask, while Spellbook of Skill is about skills used to carry out development work. This describes the creator’s intended distinction; the announcement does not provide a comparative evaluation of the projects or other learning platforms.

Technology and development approach

Tenace reports building the project with OpenCode connected through OpenRouter and DeepSeek V4 Pro 0813, and says the initial project structure, site configuration, content schema, and category setup were created with that combination. He also says the documentation site uses Astro with Starlight. These are the creator’s account of the implementation, not independently verified findings or evidence of a performance or cost advantage.

How to contribute a guide

The announcement invites contributions under an MIT license. Its guidance is intended to keep additions useful and consistent:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Search the existing guides first so you do not duplicate an established topic.
  2. Add a guide to an appropriate category, or update an existing guide where that is a better fit.
  3. Include a title, description, and at least one complete working example. Explain the learning objective and prerequisites, and add troubleshooting guidance.
  4. Keep the guide concise and actionable. Do not include real secrets or sensitive data.
  5. Submit a pull request with a short summary of the change.

The creator’s announcement also gives local setup instructions using Git and pnpm. Because the repository and live deployment were not independently checked for this article, confirm the current README and contribution instructions before relying on specific setup commands.
