If your Windows PC sounds too quiet, first check Windows’ volume mixer, the app’s own volume, and the selected output device. An amplifier app may not be needed: low volume can come from a muted app, the wrong output, or audio processing settings. If you mean Google’s Sound Amplifier, that is an Android accessibility feature—not a Windows PC app.
First, identify what you need to amplify
“Sound amplifier for PC” can mean a few different things:
- Fix unexpectedly low volume: Check Windows and app settings before installing anything.
- Change the sound: An equalizer can adjust frequencies and audio processing, but that does not guarantee more physical output from speakers or headphones.
- Get more output from your setup: Consider external powered speakers if the built-in audio remains insufficient after troubleshooting.
Google’s Sound Amplifier is an Android accessibility feature for use with wired or Bluetooth headphones. It can amplify environmental or on-device audio on Android, but it is not a Windows PC sound-booster app. Google’s Sound Amplifier overview.

- Raise both Windows and app volume. Open Settings > System > Sound > Volume mixer. Check the system volume and the slider for the app you are using; make sure that app is not muted. Microsoft’s Windows low-volume troubleshooting guide recommends checking the affected app’s level as well as system volume.
- Confirm the output device. In Settings > System > Sound, make sure Windows is sending audio to the speakers or headphones you intend to use. If you have several outputs connected, the wrong one may be selected. See Microsoft’s Windows sound troubleshooting steps.
- Check the speaker or headphone controls. For external USB or Bluetooth speakers, raise the volume on the PC, in the app, and on the speaker itself. Microsoft lists these as separate controls in its audio troubleshooting guidance.
- Test with audio enhancements off. Enhancements can affect output differently on different setups. Microsoft notes that “Audio enhancements can reduce or distort output volume.” Turn enhancements off for the output device and test again; the exact control may vary by Windows version and device driver. Follow Microsoft’s low-volume instructions.
- Try another default audio format. If volume remains low or distorted, test a different default format for the selected output device using the options available in its sound settings. Microsoft includes this as a troubleshooting step in its Windows low-volume guide.
- Update or reinstall the audio driver if needed. Use the driver supplied by your PC or audio-device manufacturer. Avoid assuming that a third-party driver utility is necessary; Microsoft’s driver troubleshooting advice points users to the manufacturer.
When an equalizer or sound booster app makes sense
If Windows volume is normal but you want to change tonal balance or apply audio filters, an equalizer may help. Equalizer APO is a system-wide Windows equalizer documented by its project. Its setup guidance covers selecting devices and checking whether processing takes effect: Equalizer APO project and its documentation.
Equalization changes audio processing; it does not prove that your speakers or headphones can produce more physical output. Whether processing applies depends on the selected Windows device and audio path. If the equalizer has no audible effect, check that the intended device is selected and supported by the configuration rather than raising levels blindly.

When to consider external speakers
If built-in speakers still do not provide enough volume after the Windows checks, external powered computer speakers are a practical hardware category to consider. Compare the connection your PC supports, whether the speakers have an accessible physical volume control, how much desk space they need, and whether you want a separate speaker output. For USB or Bluetooth models, remember that the speaker has its own volume control as well as the Windows and app controls.
No particular speaker model or measured loudness is established here, so treat “USB computer speakers” as a category to evaluate—not a guarantee that a purchase will fix every quiet-audio problem. Microsoft’s guidance on USB and Bluetooth audio devices supports checking the PC, app, and speaker levels first.
