The October 6, 2026 Sonos app update keeps your music queue available when you switch playback to radio or TV. When you return, you can resume where you left off instead of rebuilding the queue. Sonos also included several smaller app changes, and the rollout is phased.
What changed about the Sonos queue?
Previously, switching from queued music to radio or TV could mean losing the queue you planned to return to. With the announced update, that queue stays intact while you listen or watch, so you can pick up where you left off. Sonos describes the behavior in its October 6, 2026 community announcement.
The change is a software convenience; Sonos does not say that it requires a new speaker, soundbar, or accessory. The announcement does not give a device-by-device compatibility list, so it does not establish which individual Sonos models support the behavior.
What else is in the update?
Sonos also announced these app changes:
- Search autocomplete suggestions.
- Improved visibility of system updates in settings.
- A virtual volume knob that can be controlled with a two-finger tap and rotate.
- The ability to remove individual items from Recently Played.
- Swipe-right actions in the queue.
Sonos identifies the gesture additions as new on Android. The announcement does not specify further platform-by-platform availability for every listed change.

How do I get the update?
The announcement lists Sonos app version 90.00.47 for iOS and 90.00.43 for Android. Sonos says availability is phased, so the update may not appear for everyone immediately.
- Open the Sonos app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device and check whether an update is available through your device’s app store.
- If the listed version is not available yet, check again later. Sonos says releases can take several days and sometimes weeks to reach users, as described on its Sonos app release-notes page.
That release-notes page, when retrieved, still showed a June 23, 2026 entry for versions 86.01.5 on Android and iOS. It had not yet incorporated the October 6 announcement, so that older entry should not be mistaken for the October update’s version information.

Are fans loving the update?
The feature may appeal to listeners who often switch between music, radio, and TV, but the October announcement does not include a user survey, representative sentiment measure, or count of positive reactions. “Fans are loving it” is therefore headline framing, not a verified aggregate finding.
