The Sonodyne SAMA 7000 and Malhar G2 solve different living-room audio problems. Choose the SAMA 7000 if TV, films and gaming are the priority: it is a 5.1.2-channel Dolby Atmos soundbar system with a wireless subwoofer. Choose the Malhar G2 if music is the main event and you want a single cabinet that can also connect to a TV. Your room, connection requirements and preferred sound matter more than the power figures alone.

The wattage figures are manufacturer-stated output, not a like-for-like measure of loudness or sound quality. The systems have different speaker layouts and intended uses, so 850W versus 200W does not by itself tell you which will sound better in your room.
How the SAMA 7000 suits TV, films and games
Immersive sound and clearer dialogue
The SAMA 7000 is the more natural fit if the TV is the centre of your household entertainment. Its 5.1.2 layout includes upward-firing height channels intended to create a sense of sound above and around the listener. The Indian Express reviewer described overhead and moving effects in films, while 91mobiles praised dialogue intelligibility. Ceiling and subwoofer placement matter
Up-firing height effects depend on the room. 91mobiles found them more effective under a reasonably low ceiling; a very high ceiling may make overhead cues less apparent. The reviewer also recommends experimenting with subwoofer placement and says its bass may be less convincing in very large rooms. The same review notes that bright recordings can sound especially energetic in reflective rooms. If your living room has many hard surfaces, listen at your usual volume before deciding whether the SAMA’s presentation suits your ears.
Connections and controls to check
Sonodyne lists HDMI eARC, HDMI input, Optical, AUX and Bluetooth for the SAMA 7000; 91mobiles reports 4K Dolby Vision passthrough and decoding for Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby TrueHD. The review says it does not support AirPlay or Bluetooth Apt-X and lacks an on-screen display. It also describes subwoofer level as the only manually adjustable level. How the Malhar G2 suits music-first households
A three-way cabinet for music
The Malhar G2 uses separate tweeter, midrange and woofer drivers in a single 440mm-wide enclosure. Sonodyne specifies a 45Hz–20kHz frequency response, a maximum SPL of 101dB and a maximum peak SPL at 1m of 107dB. TV use without a full soundbar setup
HDMI ARC and Optical let the Malhar G2 connect to a compatible TV, while Bluetooth 5.4, USB and AUX cover other playback sources. It can therefore serve as a TV speaker as well as a music system, but its stated configuration is a three-way cabinet rather than the SAMA’s 5.1.2-channel layout. If surround and overhead film effects are the goal, the SAMA is the more directly targeted design.
Independent bass and treble controls are useful if you want to adjust tonal balance for different recordings or room conditions. Duet Mode is a separate feature: it wirelessly pairs two Malhar G2 systems. Confirm the intended placement and pairing setup with Sonodyne if you are considering a two-unit arrangement. Choose by room, setup and listening habits
- Choose the SAMA 7000 if films, TV dialogue and gaming are your priorities, you want a separate subwoofer, and your TV can use the soundbar’s eARC connection. Its height effects may be more useful in a room with a reasonably low ceiling.
- Choose the Malhar G2 if music listening comes first, you prefer one wooden cabinet over a long soundbar plus subwoofer, and bass and treble controls are important to you. Its HDMI ARC or Optical connection can add TV audio without changing its music-first design.
- Measure before choosing: allow space for the SAMA’s roughly 44-inch bar and a sensible subwoofer position, or check whether the Malhar’s 440 × 250 × 220mm cabinet fits your console. - Check your sources and ports: eARC is listed for the SAMA and ARC for the Malhar. Make sure your TV and any other devices support the connection and audio formats you plan to use.
- Audition if possible: individual reviews describe different rooms and personal listening judgments. Your ceiling, reflective surfaces, seating distance and preferred music can change what sounds best to you.
What do they cost?
Prices differ by source and are volatile. The Indian Express review published October 3, 2026, reports ₹74,999 for the SAMA 7000 and ₹55,000 for the Malhar G2. Sonodyne’s storefront showed catalog prices of ₹71,999 and ₹50,999, respectively, when accessed in 2026; those storefront figures should not be treated as confirmed final transaction prices. These are not simply two price tiers of the same kind of speaker. The SAMA 7000 is the stronger match for a household seeking a dedicated TV and movie system with height effects and a separate subwoofer. The Malhar G2 is the more coherent choice when music is the priority and TV playback is a useful extra. Make the decision around your main listening use and your room, not the output-wattage numbers alone.
