Standard is the straightforward choice for playing both. Digital Deluxe adds digital extras and additional Shadow content; the Collector’s Edition is aimed at buyers who want physical collectibles. The best fit depends on which extras matter to you, your platform and region, and the live price.
What every edition includes
SEGA describes the game as two adventures in one collection: a complete remaster of Sonic Generations and a new Shadow Generations campaign featuring Shadow and his Doom Powers. The Sonic campaign revisits 2D and 3D stages with updated visuals and added content; SEGA specifically lists Casino Nights Zone as part of the base game. SEGA’s October 2024 release notice and official product page describe the two campaigns and included content.
All three editions covered here include the base game. The difference is what each adds around it: Digital Deluxe has digital bonus content, while Collector’s Edition adds physical items. If you mainly want the two campaigns, the Standard Edition is the baseline.

SEGA of America’s October 2024 announcement identifies the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack as a Digital Deluxe inclusion. It contains a movie-inspired Shadow look and level, which SEGA said became playable on December 12, 2024. That date is a past release date, not a future-access promise. Read SEGA of America’s launch announcement.
For the Terios, Extra BGM, and skill-point content, SEGA’s DLC notice says to install both the base game and the corresponding DLC before launching the game so the items appear. If an add-on is missing, check that it is installed for the same platform account and game version. SEGA’s DLC notice was updated June 5, 2025.

Collector’s Edition: physical items and platform limits
The Collector’s Edition is not simply a version with more in-game content. SEGA lists a Shadow figure, shoe keychain, and artbook alongside the physical base game. Its Japanese launch announcement names PS5 and Nintendo Switch; do not assume the same package was offered in every country or on every platform. Check the specific local listing for platform, game format, contents, and stock.
Platform and format considerations
SEGA’s June 2024 launch announcement named PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, and Epic Games Store. It described Xbox and PC versions as digital-only in those launch materials. These are launch-era details, not confirmation of current regional distribution or of later platform releases. Check the storefront or retailer for the exact platform and format you intend to buy. SEGA’s June 2024 announcement.

Pay more for Digital Deluxe only if the digital artbook and soundtrack, Terios, extra music, skill points, or additional Shadow content appeal to you. Compare the current listing against the specific items you care about: editions and storefront descriptions can vary by region or platform.
