Solana DvP is an open-source escrow program and API designed to make an asset transfer and its payment settle together in a single transaction—or neither settle. The Solana Foundation announced it on October 6, 2026, saying J.P. Morgan contributed input on institutional settlement practices. The announcement describes infrastructure and outreach, not a J.P. Morgan deployment or a confirmed live institutional settlement service.
What is Solana DvP?
Delivery-versus-payment (DvP) is a settlement arrangement that links delivery of an asset to payment for it. The purpose is to reduce principal risk: one party should not deliver value while the other leg fails to arrive. The Solana Foundation describes Solana DvP as an escrow-based standard intended to execute both legs atomically in one transaction. Its stated design goal is that both transfers complete or neither does.
The Foundation says the program is open source and licensed under MIT. It describes the intended finality as seconds rather than days, contrasting this with traditional settlement through clearinghouses, depositories, and custodians that it says can tie up capital for one to two days. Those time comparisons are the Foundation’s claims, not independent market-wide measurements or a published service-level guarantee. Solana Foundation announcement
How the escrow flow works—and what atomicity does not cover
The official documentation says CreateDvp records trade terms and creates two escrow accounts; it does not transfer tokens at creation. The record includes a settlement authority. Before acting, the parties or an operator must verify the stored terms. Atomic execution applies to the linked transfer legs; it does not eliminate the need to establish correct terms, prepare the transaction, manage asset controls, or follow the relevant operational steps. The documentation also distinguishes settlement from recovery paths. Only Settle checks expiry; reclaim, cancel, and reject can still work after expiry. On-chain time may differ from wall-clock time by tens of seconds and can jump forward, so the docs recommend leaving a margin around intended settlement and expiry. Deadlines should not be treated as precise to the second.
What assets and integrations does the Foundation describe?
The Foundation says Solana DvP supports SPL Token and Token-2022, including features such as permanent delegates, pausable tokens, and transfer hooks that it associates with regulated issuers. It says two counterparties can use the program with a settlement agent such as a bank, custodian, or exchange. These are described capabilities and intended integrations, not evidence that a particular asset is compliant or that any named agent is using the program.

What did J.P. Morgan contribute?
The Foundation credits J.P. Morgan with input on institutional settlement practices and requirements. Rhodel D’souza, J.P. Morgan’s Head of Markets Digital Assets, said the bank was pleased to contribute settlement expertise. That is the scope of the disclosed role: the Foundation’s disclaimer says J.P. Morgan did not design, develop, operate, approve, certify, endorse, warrant, or guarantee Solana DvP. Solana Foundation announcement
Does this mean J.P. Morgan is using Solana for settlement?
No such deployment is established by the announcement. It does not name a live DvP customer, report settlement volume, or say J.P. Morgan is settling trades through this program. The Foundation says it welcomes design partners and early participants ahead of a production release; that invitation is not confirmation of live institutional use.

Are Solana DvP privacy features live?
No. The Foundation says privacy features are planned, but the announcement does not describe them as available. It also says external security audits have been completed and calls the program ready for use with real funds, but it does not identify the audit firms or link audit reports in the announcement. Those statements do not substitute for examining the audit evidence or evaluating whether the program suits a particular deployment.

As of October 2, 2026, the documentation said no client package had been published and instructed developers to generate clients from the program IDL and use them from source. That detail can change; check the current documentation and Solana Foundation GitHub repositories for the latest implementation guidance before building an integration.
