There is no controlled, chip-only test here that proves one processor is faster overall. Available benchmark results compare phones: the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G with Dimensity 7400-Ultra and the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro with Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. The Nothing scored higher in the cited tests, but differences in memory, storage, cooling, software and other handset design choices mean those results cannot isolate the chips.

What the official specifications establish

Qualcomm describes Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 as a 4 nm mobile platform with a Kryo CPU, Adreno GPU, on-device generative AI support, camera processing, and 5G and Wi-Fi capabilities. Its CPU reaches speeds up to 2.5 GHz, according to Qualcomm’s product specifications. A peak clock speed is not a direct measure of how fast a phone will run: sustained performance also depends on the handset’s cooling and power settings.

MediaTek’s official page describes the Dimensity 7400, including Adaptive Gaming Technology 3.0, an NPU 655 and 5G UltraSave features. Xiaomi’s UAE product page names the processor in its Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G as “MediaTek Dimensity 7400-Ultra.” The base 7400 page does not fully establish how the Ultra implementation differs, so its details should not be treated as a complete specification sheet for the Ultra variant.

Qualcomm’s performance claims are predecessor-relative

In its August 20, 2024 launch announcement, Qualcomm claimed nearly 20% improved CPU performance, up to 40% accelerated GPU performance, over 30% better AI performance and 12% overall power savings versus the preceding generation. These are Qualcomm’s claims about generational improvement, not measurements against Dimensity 7400 Ultra. See the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 launch announcement.

How the reviewed phones scored

01net reports the following results for two different handsets. The figures are device-level results, not a controlled comparison of the processors alone.

Benchmark Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G
(Dimensity 7400-Ultra)
Nothing Phone (3a) Pro
(Snapdragon 7s Gen 3)
AnTuTu 10 690,472 821,167
Geekbench 6 single-core 1,060 1,180
Geekbench 6 multi-core 2,966 3,293
Geekbench 6 GPU column 3,034 3,320

In this particular set of results, the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro scores higher in each listed row. The figures come from 01net’s Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G review, which presents the phones in the same comparison table. The review also calls out LPDDR4X memory and UFS 2.2 storage in its discussion of the Redmi’s performance. Those and other handset differences can affect benchmark results and everyday responsiveness, so the score gap should not be assigned wholly to the Snapdragon processor.

Why these results do not identify a chip-only winner

A processor benchmark run on a phone measures the phone’s implementation of that processor. Cooling, firmware, power limits, RAM, storage and the test conditions can all influence the outcome. The available review does not establish a matched test with the same phone design, firmware, cooling, memory and setup for both chips. Therefore, the table supports a comparison of these two reviewed phones under 01net’s tests, not a universal ranking of Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 against Dimensity 7400 Ultra.

UL Solutions’ phone listing provides additional product context, but not a direct resolution: its listing includes the Redmi Note 15 Pro (China) with Dimensity 7400 and the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G (Global) with Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. It names the base 7400 rather than the Ultra and compares different devices. See the UL Solutions Steel Nomad Light phone listing.

  • CPU: Compare single-core and multi-core scores from the same Geekbench version; these describe different workloads.
  • Graphics and games: Look for GPU tests and sustained gameplay results, including temperature and performance over time. A short benchmark run does not show whether performance holds under longer use.
  • Battery and connectivity: Consider battery life and modem or network support in the specific handset. Platform features do not guarantee identical results across phone models.
  • Whole-phone factors: Check RAM type and capacity, storage, display, battery, cameras, software support and price. These can matter as much as the processor for the experience and value.
  • Benchmark comparability: Match the test name and version, and identify the exact phone model. Avoid mixing AnTuTu versions or treating crowdsourced averages as guaranteed results for a handset.
