In the available comparisons, Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 generally leads in Geekbench and NanoReview’s pooled results, but AnTuTu comparisons disagree. Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is newer, yet Qualcomm’s performance percentages compare it with the regular Snapdragon 7 Gen 3—not with the 7+ Gen 3. For a purchase, compare the phones themselves rather than treating the chip name or one benchmark as a verdict.

At a glance: what the comparison shows

Which chip is faster?

The available evidence leans toward Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 for CPU performance and graphics, but it does not establish a universal winner across phones. NanoReview’s pooled Geekbench 6 results favor 7+ Gen 3 in both single-core and multi-core tests. NanoReview also reports a higher AnTuTu 11 aggregate for 7+ Gen 3, while 91mobiles’ AnTuTu results are nearly tied and slightly favor 7 Gen 4.

Why the benchmark sources differ

The figures come from different comparison methods and device samples, not one controlled test of both chips under identical conditions. NanoReview’s AnTuTu 11 totals use 66 samples for 7+ Gen 3 and 38 for 7 Gen 4; its Geekbench 6 totals use 23 and 17 samples. 91mobiles reports its own tested results, which differ from NanoReview’s aggregates. The sources do not provide a basis for standardizing those results into one definitive score. Treat each number as belonging to its named source and method, not as a guaranteed score for every phone.

What Qualcomm’s percentages do—and do not—mean

Qualcomm’s 2025 claim that Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 improves CPU by 27%, GPU rendering by 30%, and AI performance by 65% uses the regular Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 as its baseline. Its 2024 claims for Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3—a 15% CPU boost and 45% GPU improvement—refer to that chip’s own predecessor. Because the baselines differ, those percentages cannot be compared as though Qualcomm had tested 7 Gen 4 directly against 7+ Gen 3. See the 7 Gen 4 announcement and 7+ Gen 3 announcement.

CPU and graphics results

CPU

NanoReview’s Geekbench 6 aggregate gives Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 a single-core score of 1,860 and multi-core score of 5,045, compared with 1,270 and 4,106 for Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. Its sample counts are 23 and 17, respectively. 91mobiles also reports higher Geekbench scores for 7+ Gen 3: 1,826 versus 1,385 in single-core and 4,544 versus 4,314 in multi-core. The two sources’ scores differ, so keep each pair tied to its source rather than combining them. NanoReview; 91mobiles.

Graphics

NanoReview identifies the graphics processors as Adreno 732 for 7+ Gen 3 and Adreno 722 for 7 Gen 4. Its Steel Nomad Light results are 967 and 667, respectively. 91mobiles’ reported AnTuTu GPU subscores also favor 7+ Gen 3, at 489,792 versus 328,669. These are synthetic benchmark results, not frame-rate promises for a particular game or phone. The sources do not establish matched, long-duration gameplay testing for the two SoCs.

Actual gaming performance also depends on the phone’s cooling, display resolution, game settings, drivers, and sustained power limits. A handset that scores well in a short run may not hold the same performance during a long session.

Platform features and connectivity

Qualcomm’s 7+ Gen 3 platform page lists a Kryo CPU with a peak clock up to 2.8 GHz, an X63 5G modem, and FastConnect 7800 with Wi-Fi 7. It also highlights Snapdragon gaming features, including Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0, and on-device AI capabilities. The 7 Gen 4 page lists a Kryo CPU peaking at 2.8 GHz, Adreno graphics, Hexagon NPU and AI support, and up to 4.2 Gbps peak cellular download speed. Consult Qualcomm’s 7+ Gen 3 platform page and 7 Gen 4 platform page for the stated platform details.

Platform support is not a guarantee that every handset exposes every feature, radio configuration, or maximum rate. Phone makers choose hardware implementations and tune power, cooling, memory, and software. Peak wireless figures are not typical consumer speeds.

Which should you choose in a phone?

Do not choose on the chipset name alone. A phone’s price, sustained performance, battery results, display, cameras, memory and storage configuration, and software-support policy can change which device is the better buy. The available comparisons do not establish that either chip delivers longer battery life or higher sustained performance in real phones under matched conditions. Look for reviews of the exact models you are considering.

Use chip results as a shortlist, not a verdict

  • If CPU-heavy tasks or benchmark performance are your priority, the available Geekbench results favor 7+ Gen 3, while the AnTuTu evidence is mixed by source.
  • If you care about gaming, check sustained gameplay tests for the exact phone. The synthetic graphics scores do not establish long-session frame rates or thermal behavior.
  • If connectivity features matter, verify the phone’s regional specification sheet. A platform capability does not prove that a handset includes or enables it.
  • Check the precise model and regional variant before buying. Example devices listed by 91mobiles include OnePlus Nord 4 and realme GT 6T with 7+ Gen 3, and OPPO Reno16 5G with 7 Gen 4; availability and configurations can vary. See 91mobiles’ comparison and device list.

Frequently asked questions

Is Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 automatically better because it is newer?

No. Qualcomm’s Gen 4 performance claims compare it with the regular Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, not the 7+ Gen 3. The available benchmark comparisons do not show a consistent Gen 4 lead.

Which chip has better battery life?

The sources cited here do not establish a fair matched-phone battery comparison. Battery life depends on the complete handset and usage, so use battery reviews of the exact models rather than inferring it from the SoC.

Do benchmark scores predict game frame rates?

No. Synthetic graphics scores help compare specific benchmark runs, but they do not establish frame rates or sustained performance in a particular game on a particular phone.
