The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 leads the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in the reported CPU and graphics benchmarks covered here. The 7 Gen 3 is newer, but that alone does not make it faster or prove that a phone using it will last longer on a charge. For a purchase, compare the specific phones as well as their chips.
Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 vs Snapdragon 7 Gen 3: specifications
Both are eight-core mobile platforms. Qualcomm identifies the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 as part number SM7550-AB and specifies a 4 nm process; comparison data also lists a 4 nm process for the 7+ Gen 2. A process label alone is not enough to predict battery life or performance in a finished phone.
| Specification or result | Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 | Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 |
|---|---|---|
| CPU cores | 8 (CPU-Monkey) | 8 (CPU-Monkey) |
| Peak CPU frequency | 2.91 GHz (NanoReview and CPU-Monkey) | Up to 2.63 GHz (Qualcomm launch announcement; also listed by comparison sources) |
| Process | 4 nm (CPU-Monkey) | 4 nm (Qualcomm product brief) |
| GPU | Adreno 725 (NanoReview) | Adreno 720 (NanoReview) |
| Memory bandwidth | 51.2 GB/s (NanoReview) | 25.6 GB/s (NanoReview) |
CPU frequency and memory-bandwidth figures are comparison-site specifications, not guarantees of how a particular phone performs. Device configuration and implementation matter.
Which chip is faster in benchmarks?
NanoReview’s comparison reports higher results for the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 in the listed Geekbench 6, AnTuTu 11 and 3DMark tests. These are reported comparison figures, not guaranteed outcomes for every handset or a controlled test of two otherwise identical phones.

| Benchmark | Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 | Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 | Reported leader |
|---|---|---|---|
| Geekbench 6 single-core | 1,654 (NanoReview) | 1,131 (NanoReview) | 7+ Gen 2 |
| Geekbench 6 multi-core | 4,217 (NanoReview) | 3,111 (NanoReview) | 7+ Gen 2 |
| AnTuTu 11 total | 1,317,007; 52 tests (NanoReview) | 1,027,925; 175 tests (NanoReview) | 7+ Gen 2 |
| 3DMark Steel Nomad Light | 614 (NanoReview) | 490 (NanoReview) | 7+ Gen 2 |
| 3DMark Wild Life Extreme | 1,956 (NanoReview) | 1,596 (NanoReview) | 7+ Gen 2 |
The AnTuTu totals come from different sample counts, so they should not be read as a same-device laboratory comparison. Geekbench 6 averages reported by CPU-Monkey also differ: 1,496 single-core and 4,189 multi-core for the 7+ Gen 2, versus 1,132 and 3,065 for the 7 Gen 3. Different device pools and methods can produce different averages; use scores as comparative evidence, not as a prediction of the exact score a phone will achieve.
Which is better for gaming?
The cited 3DMark results favor the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, making it the stronger choice on the available graphics benchmark evidence. NanoReview lists the 7 Gen 3 with a higher GPU frequency, but clock speed alone does not establish game performance. Phone cooling, screen resolution, game version and sustained power can affect frame rates and consistency, so benchmark results cannot settle how two complete phones will compare in a particular game.

Does the newer Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 offer better battery life?
Qualcomm describes the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 as designed to balance performance and power efficiency. Its November 2023 announcement also claims up to 60% improved AI performance per watt; that is Qualcomm’s platform claim, not independent proof of longer battery life in every 7 Gen 3 phone. Battery results depend on the handset and how it is used, so the chip’s release date or process label cannot answer which phone lasts longer.
