Snap announced the feature on March 12, 2025, saying its in-house-built generative video model powered the launch Lenses. Snap repeated that description in its Q1 2025 financial results.
In its announcement, Snap described the Lenses as bringing “some of the most cutting edge AI tools available today to Snapchatters through a familiar Lens format.” That is Snap’s characterization; the company did not publish a feature-specific independent quality evaluation, model architecture, training-data details, parameter count, or generation-latency figure in the reviewed announcement or results.
Which AI Video Lenses did Snap introduce?
Snap’s launch announcement named three effects. They offered different creative treatments rather than a measured ranking of quality or performance.

These descriptions refer to the versions Snap announced at launch, not a confirmed current Lens catalog. How did the announced workflow work?
Snap described a camera-based workflow: choose a Lens, capture a Snap, then use the generated result from Memories. The announcement said generation could continue while the user messaged or captured other content.

Did Snapchat AI Video Lenses require Platinum?
At launch, yes: Snap said the AI Video Lenses were exclusive to Snapchat Platinum subscribers. That is a dated launch-access statement, not confirmation of present-day eligibility or access. TechCrunch reported a launch-period Platinum price of $15.99 per month on March 12, 2025; that historical report does not establish the current price. Neither source establishes current regional availability or whether the original Lenses remain in the app.

What is known about the model’s performance?
Snap said the Lenses used its in-house-built generative video model, and its Q1 2025 results corroborated the introduction of advanced AI video Lenses. The reviewed sources provide no feature-specific figures for generation speed, video quality, model size, usage, or adoption. They also do not publish comparative tests between Raccoon, Fox, and Spring Flowers, so there is no evidence-based performance ranking.
Snap’s April 29, 2025 Q1 results mention the Lenses but do not provide a performance or adoption number specific to them.
