Snagit 2024.2.4 means different releases on Windows and Mac. On Windows, TechSmith dated version 2024.2.4 to September 25, 2024, and listed a fix for a crash that could occur when Snagit started. The Mac release, dated April 4, 2024, lists only other bug fixes and performance improvements.
What’s new in Snagit 2024.2.4?
The main documented change is for Snagit 2024.2.4 on Windows. TechSmith’s Windows version history lists the release date as September 25, 2024, and says: “Fixed a crash that could occur on Snagit startup.” The note identifies the symptom addressed, but does not explain its cause or promise to resolve every startup problem.
Snagit 2024.2.4 for Mac is a separate release. TechSmith’s Mac version history dates it April 4, 2024, and summarizes it as “Other bug fixes and performance improvements.” It does not specify a startup-crash fix for Mac.

| Platform | Release date | Change listed by TechSmith |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | September 25, 2024 | Fixed a crash that could occur on Snagit startup. Source: TechSmith Windows version history. |

How 2024.2.4 differs from nearby Windows releases
Windows Snagit 2024.2.3, released September 19, 2024, addressed a different problem: in some situations, users could see an “Unable to capture” message, a black screen, or a crash during capture. That capture-related fix is not the startup-crash fix listed for 2024.2.4. TechSmith’s Windows version history also records 2024.2.2 on August 21, 2024, as adding HDR image capture; at that time, HDR scrolling and video capture were not supported.

Version 2024.2.4 was not the final Windows release in the Snagit 2024 line. The same history lists later updates, including 2024.3.0 on November 13, 2024; 2024.3.2 on February 5, 2025; 2024.3.5 on November 13, 2025; 2024.3.6 on March 19, 2026; and 2024.3.8 on June 11, 2026. Those later updates include fixes for other issues and should not be attributed to 2024.2.4.
If Snagit crashes when it starts
If you are using Windows and Snagit crashes at startup, 2024.2.4 is relevant because TechSmith lists a fix for a possible startup crash. The release note does not identify the underlying cause or provide a troubleshooting procedure, so it cannot establish whether this version will solve a particular computer’s problem. It also does not document that fix for Mac.

TechSmith’s current Snagit system requirements page lists supported Windows versions and hardware requirements, but those current requirements are not a verified record of what applied when 2024.2.4 shipped. If you are checking compatibility, use the current page for current requirements rather than treating it as a historical specification for this release.
Can you still get Snagit 2024.2.4?
TechSmith’s current Snagit store page describes an individual annual subscription that provides current features and versions while active. It does not establish that version 2024.2.4 specifically is available to purchase or download, nor does it verify the historical licensing terms for that build.
