If SingleFile saves a page without its pictures, first confirm the images appear on the live page and let the page finish loading. Then check whether the images are deferred, the site requires a Referer header, another extension is interfering, or the content is drawn in a canvas. The right fix depends on which of these applies.
1. Confirm the images load on the live page
Before changing SingleFile settings, check whether the pictures are visible in the page itself. If they are missing there too, SingleFile cannot save images the browser has not loaded. Wait for the page to finish loading, then save it again. SingleFile’s Chrome Web Store listing specifically advises waiting until a page is fully loaded before saving.
2. Load deferred images before saving
Some sites load images only when you scroll near them or after a delay. If pictures appear as you scroll or wait, look in SingleFile’s options for the setting that loads deferred images and iframes before saving. The option’s exact label may vary by release, so look for its function rather than relying on a particular wording. The SingleFile listing documents this capability.
3. Try the Referer option for site-specific failures
If images are missing only on one site—and SingleFile reports a cross-origin request error—the site may require image requests to include a Referer header. SingleFile’s FAQ describes this issue for sites such as sspai.com and weibo.com.

- Open SingleFile’s options and find the Network section.
- Enable the option to pass the “Referer” header after a cross-origin request error.
- Save the page again and check whether the missing images are included.
This option is off by default for privacy reasons. Enable it only when the site-specific symptom and error make it relevant.
4. Check for extension conflicts
If the cause is unclear, another browser extension may be interfering with SingleFile. The project’s known-issues page recommends disabling other extensions to test for conflicts. Disable them temporarily, save the same page again, and re-enable extensions after testing. If the images return, re-enable extensions one at a time to identify the conflict.

5. Check whether browser security blocks access
Browsers restrict extensions from accessing some domains for security reasons. If SingleFile cannot access the page at all, a missing-image setting may not help; the restriction may come from the browser. SingleFile’s FAQ describes this limitation but does not identify every affected domain or browser/version combination, so it should not be assumed to apply to every failure.
6. Know the canvas limitation
Some pages draw pictures into HTML canvas elements instead of exposing them as ordinary image resources. SingleFile documents that security restrictions can sometimes prevent it from saving a canvas element’s image representation. If the missing picture is canvas-rendered, the usual image-loading or Referer settings may not resolve it.
