Spoiler warning: This walkthrough covers how the ending system works and the reported actions that steer Silent Hill: Townfall toward Forever. Forever is one of the three main endings and is available on a first playthrough. It is not selected by one final dialogue choice: the developers say the main ending reflects actions across the run.

How the Forever ending is determined

Writer and director Jon McKellan said the endings are not determined by “a simple binary choice at the end”; instead, the player’s actions throughout the playthrough determine the outcome. The developer statement establishes the broad rule, but not a public, official scoring formula.

PowerPyx’s ending guide describes a point system for the main endings. Its reported values are useful for planning, but they are guide findings rather than an official Konami list of thresholds.

Actions PowerPyx says affect the score

Action Reported effect How to use it for Forever
Find Clues and Documents Each Discovery adds 1 point, according to PowerPyx. Explore and collect these as you go; discoveries raise the reported score.
Kill an enemy as Simon Each such kill subtracts 2 points, according to PowerPyx. Be deliberate about Simon’s combat. The guide says kills as Zoe or Richard do not count toward its point total, even though they affect the displayed kill statistic.
Refill the Cannula Each refill subtracts 4 points, according to PowerPyx. Avoid refilling where feasible if you are tracking the ending score.
Make a specified Zoe-puzzle mistake in Chapter 7 that damages her Each such mistake subtracts 3 points, according to PowerPyx. Take care on the relevant puzzles to avoid those penalties.

PowerPyx says dialogue choices, elapsed time, and healing-item use do not affect its point total. Do not use those as substitutes for tracking the four reported score inputs above.

Reported score bands for Forever

PowerPyx reports these bands: more than 20 points leads to Justice; 0–19 points leads to Forever; below 0 leads to Abandoned. These boundaries are not confirmed in the cited developer interview, so treat them as guide-reported targets rather than guaranteed official cutoffs.

If you want to aim for Forever, keep a manual tally of the reported gains and deductions. When the game allows it, make a late-game save before committing to the final stretch; that gives you a fallback if the result differs from the guide’s scoring description.

SILENT HILL: townfall | DAY ONE EDITION - PlayStation 5
  • Experienced entirely in first person, explore, evade, and survive using a limited set of weapons and tools, including a pocket television used to tune into unstable signals. Evasion is tense; combat is frenetic, while narrative driven puzzles reveal a truth that refuses to stay submerged.
  • SILENT HILL: Townfall is a full-length, self-contained psychological horror set against the cold, isolated backdrop of Scotland, 1996

Do you need New Game+?

No. Konami series producer Motoi Okamoto said all three main endings can be reached on the first playthrough, while the secret ending becomes available after clearing the game once. PowerPyx describes the Dog and Sci-fi endings as New Game+ routes triggered through specific item interactions; they are separate from first-run planning for Forever.

Ending route Availability described by the sources How it differs from Forever planning
Justice, Forever, Abandoned All three main endings can be reached on a first playthrough, according to Okamoto. PowerPyx describes them as outcomes of the reported score system.
Dog and Sci-fi PowerPyx describes these as New Game+ endings. The guide says they use specific item interactions, rather than the first-run score-balancing approach.
Secret ending Okamoto said it becomes available after clearing the game once. The cited interview does not specify its trigger here.

Game context: useful, but not an ending condition

PlayStation announced a September 24, 2026 release for PS5. Its announcement describes puzzles designed alongside the story and use of the CRTV to assess situations while navigating stealth sections. Those gameplay details provide context, but PlayStation does not present them as Forever-ending conditions.
