Don’t dismantle or sell a replaced item straight away. First check its tooltip and the actions available in your current client: it may still help with combat, upgrades, collections, appearances, crafting, or another character. If you cannot tell what it is for, keep one copy until you do.
How to decide what to do with old gear
- Read the item tooltip. Confirm what the item is, whether it is bound, and which actions the client actually allows. Restrictions and available options may vary by item and version.
- Compare it with your equipment. Consider whether it fits your current build, another build, or a character you play.
- Check for other uses. The item may be needed for an upgrade, collection, appearance unlock, or crafting. If you are unsure, retain one copy while you investigate.
- Inspect any recycling option before confirming. If the client offers extraction or another recycling action, read its displayed costs and rewards. Do not assume a fixed yield.
- Sell only when the item is sale-eligible and has no useful alternative. The available sources do not establish a universal sale rule.
Dismantling or selling: what to compare

What guides report about extraction and recycling
Unofficial guides describe more than one recycling system, and their claims should not be treated as a universal rule. A VGC guide dated October 1, 2026 reports that Item Extraction can return upgrade materials and a cosmetic skin, but the official pages reviewed do not confirm those rewards or which global items qualify: VGC’s Item Extraction guide.
An AllThingsHow guide updated October 2, 2026 describes Substance Morph and Gear Transfer, and says dungeon duplicates can be recycled into materials. Its description differs in scope and detail from VGC’s, so check the item and confirmation panels in your client before acting: AllThingsHow’s guide to old gear.
What is not established
The official AION 2 global site lists October 5, 2026 as the launch date, but that does not confirm how gear cleanup works: AION 2 global site. The reviewed sources do not establish complete current rules for vendor sales, market listings, player trading, eligibility by rarity or binding, or extraction costs. Treat those details as item-, region-, and client-version-dependent unless the live game clearly confirms them.
