Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Either choice awards 25 XP, and the actress you cast does not change the quest’s outcome. Pick Irina instead if you prefer her in the role.
What changes when you choose Irina or Priscilla?
In “The Play’s the Thing,” a main quest set in Novigrad, Geralt helps Priscilla stage a play with Irina Renarde’s troupe. The performance is intended to draw Dudu out of hiding. The casting decision changes the performance reward, not whether the plan succeeds.
| Choice | Crowns | XP | Quest outcome |
|---|---|---|---|
| Priscilla as princess | 20 | 25 | Unaffected by the casting choice, according to Gamer Guides. |
| Irina as princess | 10 | 25 | Unaffected by the casting choice, according to Gamer Guides. |
Witcher.tools reports the same XP and crown amounts. Gamer Guides’ reward information was updated in 2024; Witcher.tools does not show a publication date on its page.
How to maximize the play’s reward
The actress is only one part of the reward. Recruiting the Puffins, choosing Abelard as the prince, and getting the timed lines right each contribute separately. The guides report a total of up to 130 crowns when the relevant reward choices are made; that total is not the reward for choosing Priscilla alone.
#1 Best Overall
- Trained from early childhood and mutated to gain superhuman skills, strength, and reflexes, witchers are a counterbalance to the monster-infested world in which they live.
- Built for endless adventure, the massive open world of The Witcher sets new standards in terms of size, depth, and complexity.
- Take on the most important contract of your life: to track down the child of prophecy, the key to saving or destroying this world.
Choose the correct timed lines
During the performance, select the lines that begin with these phrases:
- “To slay beasts most foul…”
- “Perhaps ‘midst the guests…”
- “Seems men’s hearts…”
- “But a base heart…”
- “No monster is he…”
The number of correct choices affects the performance reward, so choose each matching opening rather than treating the casting decision as the only way to improve the payout.

Why the play matters to the story
Priscilla writes the play for Irina’s troupe as a way to lure Dudu out of hiding. After the performance, Dudu reveals himself and agrees to help free Dandelion. The actress choice does not prevent this story progression.
