To set up a Casio Pro Trek, first identify its module number: the correct procedure depends on whether the watch receives radio time signals, connects to a phone, or requires manual time-setting. For a radio-capable module such as 5673, set the correct Home City, then start Receive Mode in a suitable location. World Time and alarm controls also vary: modules 5732 and 5673 use different button sequences, and the 5673 uses a crown for several settings.
If you are searching for how to sync a Pro Trek with the atomic clock, the key is to confirm that your particular module supports radio reception. A Pro Trek name alone does not guarantee Multiband 6, Bluetooth, or any automatic time correction. Once you know the module, you can use the matching Casio guide and avoid applying a button sequence that belongs to a different watch.
Which time-setting method does my Pro Trek use?
Find the module number on the caseback, in the original manual, or through Casio support before pressing buttons. “Pro Trek” is a product family, not a guarantee of a particular time-correction feature. Casio notes that Multiband 6 is not available on every model, and its module 5732 and 5673 guides show different controls and correction options.

If the controls below do not match what you see, pause and check the module instead of trying a similar-looking sequence.

| Setup path | What to look for | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Radio-controlled / Multiband 6 | Receive Mode, RC or R-C indicators, Home City and signal-reception settings | Needs a supported model, supported region and suitable reception conditions. |
| Bluetooth / CASIO WATCHES | Phone-link or Mobile Link settings in the module guide | Uses a compatible phone and app connection rather than a radio time signal. Availability depends on the model. |
| Manual time-setting | Time and date adjustment controls in the module guide | Can be used where radio reception is unavailable, but does not automatically receive an atomic time signal. |
These are different ways of correcting or setting the watch, not interchangeable names for one feature. A radio-capable model listens for a time-calibration signal, and the 5673 guide says the received signal can configure its time and day settings. A Bluetooth model relies on a compatible phone and CASIO WATCHES connection. A model without either feature can still be set manually, but it will not receive an atomic signal on its own.
Compare the correction method, the controls, supported radio geography, Home City and daylight-saving-time (DST) handling, World Time city range, and alarm controls. A city that can be selected for World Time is not necessarily a location where the watch can receive a time signal. Likewise, having a correct World Time display does not mean the watch has synchronized its Home City time.
How do I set atomic time on a radio-controlled Pro Trek?
For a radio-capable Pro Trek represented by module 5673, set the local Home City first and then start a manual reception attempt. Casio says the watch can adjust its time and day settings from a received time-calibration signal, but reception is limited to supported areas.
- Set the Home City. Choose the city or area that matches where you are using the watch. Casio’s 5673 guide says the area must be specified for correct signal-based adjustment. A mismatched Home City can also contribute to a wrong displayed time.
- Choose a reception location. Move near a window, away from metal objects, and keep the watch still. Reception is generally better at night.
- Enter Receive Mode. Use the mode controls described in the 5673 guide to reach Receive Mode. Do not assume that another Pro Trek enters the mode with the same button.
- Start reception. Hold A for at least two seconds, until
RC!appears. The watch then attempts to receive the signal. - Wait without moving the watch. Casio gives a typical reception time of about two to ten minutes, with some attempts taking as long as 20 minutes. When the operation completes, the watch can adjust its time and day settings.
- Check the result. If the displayed time is wrong by an hour, check the Home City and DST or summer-time setting before concluding the receiver failed.
These steps are for the representative module 5673; another radio-controlled module may use different controls or settings. If your watch does not have a Receive Mode or radio-reception feature, do not expect this procedure to add one.
It helps to think of this as two settings working together: the signal provides a time reference, while the Home City and its seasonal-time setting determine how that time is displayed locally. Starting reception before selecting the right Home City can therefore leave the watch showing a time that looks wrong even if the signal was received. Set the area first, then check the displayed local time after the attempt.
During a manual attempt, leave the watch in place rather than checking it repeatedly or moving it to another room. A reception that takes several minutes is not necessarily stuck; the Casio 5673 guide allows for attempts of up to 20 minutes in some cases. If an attempt does not complete, improve the location and try again at a more favorable time rather than assuming the watch is defective.
Why won’t my Pro Trek receive the atomic signal?
Reception can fail because of the watch’s location, nearby interference, the selected Home City, or being outside the supported transmitter area. Work through the checks below before repeating the attempt.

- Improve placement. Put the watch near a window with its 12 o’clock side facing the window. Keep metal objects away and leave the watch still during reception.
- Try at night. Casio’s radio-controlled guidance says reception is normally better then.
- Move away from likely obstructions or interference. Casio lists buildings, vehicles, household appliances, office equipment, mobile phones, construction sites, airports, high-tension power lines and mountain obstructions among conditions that can hinder reception.
- Verify the Home City. Confirm it matches your location and is a city supported for reception by your module. A city may be available for World Time without being a supported radio-reception location.
- Check regional coverage. Casio’s older QW-4765 guidance identifies Fort Collins for the United States, Rugby/Mainflingen for the United Kingdom and Germany, and Fukushima/Fukuoka-Saga for Japan. Those are representative transmitter regions for that older guide, not a guarantee of coverage for every current Pro Trek or every location.
- Use manual setting if reception is not available. If you are outside the supported range or cannot obtain a signal, set the time and date manually using your module’s instructions.
If reception completes but the time is still off, inspect the Home City and DST setting. Those settings affect the displayed local time independently of whether the watch received a signal.
Reception is an attempt, not a promise that a signal will be available wherever you travel. The supported areas are limited, and even within a supported region the signal may be harder to receive indoors or near obstructions. The older Casio QW-4765 guide’s transmitter examples are useful context, but they should not be used as a current coverage map for every Pro Trek. Confirm the supported area and reception instructions for your exact module.
Some older radio-controlled watches also attempt reception automatically. Casio’s 2007 QW-4765 guide says its representative watch may make up to six attempts per day; after one successful reception, it skips the remaining attempts. The exact schedule depends on Home City and DST settings. Treat that as a detail for that older guide, not a universal Pro Trek feature or schedule. If you need to correct the time now, use the manual Receive Mode procedure for your module instead of waiting for an automatic attempt.
How do I check or change World Time?
World Time shows a selected city’s time, but the display and controls differ by module. Do not apply the 5732 procedure to a 5673 or assume the two modules offer the same city list. Before changing a city, make sure you are in World Time Mode rather than changing the Home City that governs the watch’s local time.

Module 5732: 38 cities plus UTC
Casio’s 2024 module 5732 guide specifies World Time for 38 cities and UTC. It treats checking World Time, selecting a city, and swapping Home Time with World Time as separate functions. Consult the 5732 guide for the control sequence for each operation; the city-selection steps for module 5673 below are not interchangeable.
The separate swap function is useful when you want the selected World Time city to become the watch’s Home Time, but it is not the same as simply viewing a second time zone. Check the 5732 guide for the exact steps and confirm the displayed city before using the watch as your local timepiece. If you only need to compare times, leave the Home City alone and use the World Time display.
Module 5673: view a city’s time
- Enter World Time Mode.
- The analog hands indicate the selected World Time city’s current time, while the digital display shows Home City time.
- Press A to check whether the World Time is a.m. or p.m. Press D to identify the selected city on the second hand.
This split display can be confusing if you expect the digital time to change to the selected city. On the 5673, the hands are the World Time display and the digital display remains the Home City time. Use A when you need to tell morning from afternoon in the selected city, and D when you need to identify which city code the second hand represents.

Module 5673: select a city and set summer time
- Enter World Time Mode and pull out the crown.
CITYflashes. - Rotate the crown to select the desired city code.
- Press B to move to the summer-time setting.
- Rotate the crown to choose
ONorOFF, as appropriate for that city. - Push the crown back in to finish.
To select UTC on module 5673, enter World Time Mode and hold A for at least three seconds. UTC has no summer-time setting. The available city codes, city count and button assignments are specific to each module.
When choosing a city, use the code and seasonal-time option shown by the watch’s guide rather than relying on a city name alone. The city list and the controls are module-specific, and DST may affect the displayed local time. If a selected city appears to be an hour out, check its summer-time setting before deciding that the watch’s timekeeping is wrong. For UTC on the 5673, there is no summer-time option to change.
How do I set an alarm on a Casio Pro Trek?
Both modules 5732 and 5673 support five alarms, but their setting and on/off controls differ. Confirm the module before following a procedure; the 5732 uses buttons to edit the time, while the 5673 uses its crown.
Choose the alarm number before editing so you do not change a different alarm than intended. These watches provide separate screens for AL1 through AL5; setting one does not mean all five are enabled. After setting the time, return to the relevant alarm screen and check its indicator if you also need to confirm that the alarm is turned on.
Module 5732: set an alarm
- Enter Alarm Mode.
- Press D until the alarm you want,
AL1throughAL5, appears. - Hold A for at least two seconds, until the hour digits flash.
- Use B and D to set the hour.
- Press C, then use B and D to set the minutes.
- Press A to finish.
On the 5732, the alarm sounds for 10 seconds. Press any button to stop it.

The order matters: set the hour while the hour digits are flashing, then press C to move to the minute setting. Use the button assignments in the 5732 guide if the display or controls differ on your watch. Casio’s guide confirms five alarms and a 10-second alarm tone; it does not make the 5732 sequence a generic procedure for all Pro Trek watches.
Module 5673: set an alarm
- Enter Alarm Mode.
- Use A and C to select
AL1throughAL5. - Pull out the crown and rotate it to set the minutes.
- Press B, then rotate the crown to set the hour.
- Push the crown back in.
The 5673 alarm sounds for 10 seconds, and any button stops it. In 12-hour format, its display distinguishes a.m. and p.m. with an A/P indicator.

Because the 5673 sets minutes before hours, verify both digits once the crown is pushed back in. In 12-hour format, also inspect A/P: an alarm set for the intended hour but the wrong half of the day will sound at the wrong time. The 10-second tone and any-button stop behavior are specified in Casio’s module 5673 guide.
How do I turn an alarm or the hourly signal on and off?
Select the alarm or hourly-signal screen first; the enable/disable control is different on each module. The on-screen indicator confirms when the selected alarm or signal is enabled.

If an alarm time is correct but it does not sound, check whether that alarm is enabled. If you want to stop hourly beeps, select SIG and use the toggle for your module rather than changing or deleting one of the five alarm times.
For the 5732, Casio’s guide says the watch beeps when an alarm time is reached. The alarm itself sounds for 10 seconds, and pressing any button stops it. Those details describe the alarm tone, not the hourly signal’s separate screen or setting.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What should I check if the time is still wrong?
Separate a reception problem from a time-zone or display-setting problem. A successful signal reception does not make an incorrect Home City or DST choice correct.
- Exactly one hour out: Review the Home City and DST or summer-time setting first, especially after a seasonal clock change.
- Wrong local area: Select the correct Home City, then check the time again. Signal-based correction depends on the area being specified correctly.
- Radio reception unavailable: Confirm that the exact module supports radio reception and that the location is within its supported coverage. Otherwise, use manual time and date adjustment.
- Controls do not match these steps: Recheck the module number. The 5673 crown-based procedures and 5732 button-based alarm procedure are examples, not universal Pro Trek instructions.
- World Time looks inconsistent: On module 5673, remember that the hands show World Time while the digital display shows Home City time. Use A to check a.m./p.m. and D to identify the city.
- An alarm does not sound: Confirm that you selected the intended alarm number, set both its hour and minute, checked the a.m./p.m. indicator where applicable, and enabled it on the alarm screen.
Casio’s official module guides are the right reference for the full control map: the 5673 guide covers radio reception and crown-based World Time and alarm settings; the 5732 guide documents its World Time and alarm functions. Casio’s older QW-4765 guide is the source for the representative transmitter regions and automatic-reception schedule noted above. Use the guide that matches the number on your caseback when a procedure is not listed here.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often will an older Pro Trek try to receive the time signal automatically?
Casio’s 2007 QW-4765 guide says its representative older radio-controlled watch may try up to six times per day; after one successful attempt, it skips the remaining attempts. The exact schedule depends on Home City and DST settings, and that figure should not be treated as a schedule for every Pro Trek.

Does every Casio Pro Trek have atomic timekeeping?
No. Casio says Multiband 6 is not available on all models. Check the module number and its Casio guide to see whether your watch supports radio reception, Bluetooth/CASIO WATCHES, or manual setting only.
Does World Time mean my watch has synchronized with an atomic clock?
No. World Time displays a selected city’s time. Radio reception is a separate feature, and a city available in World Time is not necessarily a supported radio-reception location.
Why is my Pro Trek exactly one hour off after reception?
Check that the Home City matches your location and that its DST or summer-time setting is correct. Those settings can affect the displayed local time even after the watch receives a signal.
Does the 5673 alarm distinguish between a.m. and p.m.?
Yes. When the 5673 is using 12-hour time, its alarm display marks a.m. or p.m. with A/P, so check that indicator when setting an afternoon or overnight alarm.
Can I set summer time for UTC on a 5673?
No. Casio’s 5673 guide specifies no summer-time setting for UTC. Choose a city code with the appropriate summer-time option if you need a local city’s seasonal clock setting.
How long should manual radio reception take?
Casio’s 2021 module 5673 guide gives about two to 10 minutes as a typical time, with some attempts taking up to 20 minutes. Keep the watch still in a suitable location while it tries.
How many alarms can I set on modules 5732 and 5673?
Both guides support five alarms, labeled AL1 through AL5. The procedure differs: the 5732 uses buttons to set the time, while the 5673 uses its crown.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The Bottom Line
Identify the module before changing settings. For a radio-capable 5673, set the Home City, try reception in a suitable location, and check DST if the result is off. Use the module-specific guide for World Time and alarms: 5732 and 5673 controls are not interchangeable, and Multiband 6 is not available on every Pro Trek.
