ScreenshotAPI.net currently describes its free offer in two different ways: its pricing page advertises a seven-day trial with 100 screenshots, while its Help Center describes 100 free screenshots in a month with a reset tied to the signup date. The pages do not explain how those terms fit together, so check the allowance and reset date shown in your account rather than assuming the free quota renews monthly.

How many free screenshots does ScreenshotAPI.net provide?

The answer depends on which official page you read. ScreenshotAPI.net’s pricing page, accessed in 2026, labels the offer a “7-Days Free Trial” and lists 100 screenshots. The Help Center describes 100 free screenshots “in a month” and says they reset on the same day of the prior month that you registered.

Those descriptions leave an important ambiguity: the public pages do not establish whether every account receives a recurring monthly free quota, or how a monthly reset works alongside a seven-day trial. Treat the pricing-page offer as a seven-day trial unless your account explicitly shows otherwise. Check your account dashboard for your active remaining allowance and next reset date before planning a recurring workload.

What does ScreenshotAPI.net count as a request?

An HTTP request is the call your application sends to the API; it is not necessarily a screenshot credit. ScreenshotAPI.net’s render documentation shows a GET request to https://shot.screenshotapi.net/v3/screenshot with an API token, a target URL, and optional rendering parameters. A successful fresh render is the event most likely to use quota. According to the Help Center, failed screenshot attempts do not count, and a matching cached result does not use another credit.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

That distinction matters when you estimate usage: a script can make multiple HTTP calls without each call consuming a screenshot, but a call that produces a new successful render can count even if the URL is one your system has captured before with different rendering parameters.

Does a cached ScreenshotAPI.net request use a free credit?

Not when the service can return a stored result for the same screenshot identity. The Help Center says “Cached screenshots will not count toward your quota.” Its cache documentation explains that the initial request renders and stores the result; a subsequent request with the same URL and parameters can reuse it when caching is enabled and the request does not ask for a fresh render.

For the cache to help, there must be a matching stored result and the settings must allow it to be reused. If the result is absent, unavailable, or bypassed, the service may render again. Review the cache options in the cached and fresh screenshot documentation when configuring your implementation.

What counts as the same screenshot?

The Help Center defines a unique screenshot by the exact URL and parameters used for rendering. A change to the target URL or to a render option can therefore create a different screenshot identity. For example, requests for the same page with different capture settings should not be assumed to share a cached result or quota treatment.

What does fresh=true do?

The documented fresh=true option bypasses a stored cached result and asks ScreenshotAPI.net to render the page again. Use it when the page may have changed and you need current content. Because it forces a new render rather than a cache hit, budget for it as a successful capture that may consume quota.

Do failed attempts count toward the allowance?

No. The Help Center says only successfully rendered screenshots count toward the plan quota; failed attempts do not affect it. That does not make an unsuccessful call harmless operationally: your application still needs to handle the failure, and repeated retries can create extra HTTP traffic or run into rate limits.

For an error response, consult ScreenshotAPI.net’s error documentation. It identifies monthly quota exhaustion as screenshots_limit_reached with HTTP 403, while request-rate exhaustion returns HTTP 429.

How does the request-rate limit differ from screenshot quota?

Screenshot quota controls how many billable successful captures your plan allows over its allowance period. The request-per-minute limit controls how quickly you may call the API. ScreenshotAPI.net’s Help Center gives a plan-dependent range of 20–80 requests per minute. These are separate limits: you can hit the throughput cap while you still have screenshot credits, or exhaust the screenshot allowance while making calls slowly.

  • HTTP 403, screenshots_limit_reached: the documented monthly screenshot quota is exhausted.
  • HTTP 429: the documented requests-per-minute limit has been exceeded.

Do not infer the exact cap for your account from the overall range; check the current terms for your subscription.

How to estimate usage without counting every API call as a screenshot

  1. Check the account’s actual allowance and reset date. The public free-offer wording is inconsistent, so use the account dashboard for account-specific status.
  2. Count successful new renders. Exclude failed attempts, as described by the Help Center.
  3. Group requests by exact URL and render parameters. A changed URL or option may mean a distinct screenshot.
  4. Confirm cache reuse is enabled and applicable. Do not assume a repeat is free unless a stored matching result is actually served.
  5. Track fresh renders separately. Requests using fresh=true bypass the cache and may create a new quota-consuming render.
  6. Monitor request pace as well as quota. A low screenshot total does not prevent HTTP 429 errors if calls exceed the account’s per-minute cap.

If your real goal is reliable captures rather than managing render behavior yourself, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API with a one-GET capture flow. Its options include caching with a chosen TTL and support for common screenshot API parameter names. The service says it removes cookie-consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are not billed; and AI agents can use its MCP server to take screenshots.

For example, this cURL call saves a WebP screenshot of Stripe:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo’s free plan.

Is ScreenshotAPI.net’s free offer 100 screenshots every month?

The public pages do not resolve that. The pricing page describes a seven-day, 100-screenshot trial; the Help Center describes 100 free screenshots in a month. Check your account for the terms that apply to you.

Can changing a render option make a request count as a different screenshot?

Yes. ScreenshotAPI.net defines screenshot identity using the exact URL and parameters, so changing a rendering parameter can make it a distinct screenshot.

What should I do if I receive HTTP 429?

The vendor’s error reference associates HTTP 429 with exceeding the requests-per-minute limit. Reduce or space out calls and verify the rate limit for your plan.
