If Screenshot.Rocks shows a blank capture, first check whether the editor itself is blank or whether the editor loaded but the target page’s screenshot is blank. Screenshot.Rocks documents an optional server-side website-capture feature, but the available official information does not establish a public API endpoint or API response format. So don’t assume an API error code or authentication problem: start with the capture method and the page you’re trying to reach.
First identify what is blank
There are two different problems that can look alike:
- The Screenshot.Rocks editor page is blank or will not load. The published guidance about website capture does not diagnose a blank editor. Record your browser and device, the page URL, how you started the capture, and any visible error. If you can, check the browser console for an error message. Do not share API keys, passwords, cookies, or other secrets.
- The editor works, but the captured website is blank or incomplete. The documented website-capture feature loads a URL on Screenshot.Rocks’ server as a first-time visitor. Use the checks below.
If you are calling something you believe is a Screenshot.Rocks API, keep the exact request method, endpoint, response, and error details handy. The official information available for this guide describes the editor and optional URL capture, but does not verify a public API contract. Without the actual API documentation or request, it is not possible to identify a valid endpoint, authentication rule, status code, or response schema.

Why can Screenshot.Rocks’ website capture fail?
The server-side capture can reach public pages, but it does not have your browser’s session or access to your local network. Screenshot.Rocks names a mistyped URL, a slow-loading page, and sites that block automated browsers as common reasons a capture may fail.

- CRISP CLARITY: This 23.8″ Philips V line monitor delivers crisp Full HD 1920x1080 visuals. Enjoy movies, shows and videos with remarkable detail
- INCREDIBLE CONTRAST: The VA panel produces brighter whites and deeper blacks. You get true-to-life images and more gradients with 16.7 million colors
- THE PERFECT VIEW: The 178/178 degree extra wide viewing angle prevents the shifting of colors when viewed from an offset angle, so you always get consistent colors
- WORK SEAMLESSLY: This sleek monitor is virtually bezel-free on three sides, so the screen looks even bigger for the viewer. This minimalistic design also allows for seamless multi-monitor setups that enhance your workflow and boost productivity
- A BETTER READING EXPERIENCE: For busy office workers, EasyRead mode provides a more paper-like experience for when viewing lengthy documents
- The address is mistyped or not publicly reachable. Check the spelling and open the same URL in a private browser window without signing in.
- The page requires a login. A server rendering the page as a first-time visitor cannot see content behind your account.
- The URL is local or on a private network. Server-side capture cannot access addresses such as
localhoston your computer or a staging site available only inside your organization’s network. - The page loads slowly. A capture may fail if the page does not become available in time.
- The site blocks automated browsers. Some sites restrict automated access, so a server-side capture may not be able to render them.
Try these checks in order
- Verify the exact URL. Copy the address from the browser’s address bar, check that it is the intended page, and retry.
- Confirm it is accessible without your session. Open it in a private window. If it redirects to a sign-in screen or cannot load there, the server-side capture will not see your logged-in view.
- Retry after the page is responsive. If the site is slow or temporarily unavailable, wait until it loads normally in your browser, then try the capture again.
- Check whether the site blocks automated access. If the page opens for you but the server capture fails, automated-browser blocking is one possible cause. Use a capture from your own browser instead of trying to bypass the site’s access controls.
- Decide whether you need the first screen or the whole page. Screenshot.Rocks’ online website capture is documented as capturing the first screen, not a full scrolling page. For a full-page result, use a browser’s full-page capture feature.
- For an image that is incomplete, check lazy-loaded content. Some sites load images only as you scroll. Scroll through the page and back up before taking a browser capture, then check whether the images have appeared.
Capture the page in your browser and import it
Use your own browser when the target is behind a login, runs on localhost or a restricted staging network, depends on a particular interaction state, or needs a full-page capture. A browser extension can capture the visible tab; browser-native capture tools may offer a separate full-page option. Once you have an image, import it into the Screenshot.Rocks editor.
- Open the target page in the browser where you can access it.
- If the page has lazy-loaded images, scroll down and back up so they load.
- Set the page to the state you want to show, such as opening a menu or dismissing a dialog.
- Capture the visible tab with the Screenshot.Rocks browser extension, or use your browser’s built-in full-page capture if you need content below the fold.
- Open the Screenshot.Rocks editor and import the resulting image.
The extension route sends the captured tab to Screenshot.Rocks to open in the editor; its extension guidance says the capture is not stored. The editor processes images added to it in the browser. By contrast, optional website capture sends the target URL to Screenshot.Rocks’ server for rendering and returns the captured result rather than storing it.

If you need a server-side capture API rather than troubleshooting this particular Screenshot.Rocks feature, ScreenshotNeo returns a screenshot or PDF from one GET request. Its clean-shot steps accept consent banners and remove supported consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; those steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. ScreenshotNeo also has an MCP server with screenshot tools for AI agents.

When to use each capture method
| Method | Best for | Limitation to know |
|---|---|---|
| Screenshot.Rocks online URL capture | A public page’s first screen | Runs server-side as a first-time visitor; cannot access login-protected content or local addresses, and a site may block automated browsers. |
| Screenshot.Rocks browser extension | A page you can open in your browser, including a logged-in or interactive view | Captures the visible tab; use a browser-native full-page feature when you need the whole scrolling page. |
| Browser-native full-page capture, then import | A full-page image or a page available only in your browser | Requires capturing in your own browser and importing the image into the editor. |
What details help diagnose a persistent blank capture?
If the steps do not resolve it, collect details that distinguish a capture failure from an editor or API issue:
- Whether the editor itself is blank or only the target screenshot.
- The target page URL, with private query values removed.
- Whether the page is public, login-protected, local, or staging.
- Whether you used online URL capture, the extension, a browser tool, or an API request.
- Your browser and device, plus any visible error or relevant console/network message.
Do not send passwords, session cookies, authorization headers, or API keys. If you are diagnosing a claimed API call, include the endpoint and method only if they are safe to share, along with a redacted response; an undocumented request cannot be reliably matched to an API-specific fix.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Screenshot.Rocks capture the whole page with online URL capture?
No. Its documented online website capture takes the first screen. Use a browser full-page capture and import the image when you need the scrolling page.
Can Screenshot.Rocks capture localhost or a staging site?
Not through its server-side URL capture when the address is local or the staging site is restricted to your network. Capture it in a browser that can reach it, then import the screenshot.
