Save Page WE can capture some dynamic content, but broad reliability across dynamic websites is unproven. It saves a page as currently displayed and offers controls for delayed and lazy-loaded content. Those options can help with content that appears during ordinary rendering or scrolling; they do not guarantee that interactive states, remote data, or embedded frames will be preserved. The official listings reviewed publish no independent success rate or representative dynamic-site benchmark.
What Save Page WE captures
Save Page WE is a browser extension that saves a page’s displayed state and referenced resources into a single HTML file. The Chrome Web Store listing, from developer DW-dev, describes the result as a page saved “as curently displayed” (the listing’s spelling). Mozilla’s listing says binary resources are encoded as data URIs and external stylesheets are converted to internal stylesheets. These are vendor descriptions of the workflow, not independent verification that every element will be captured.
That distinction matters for dynamic websites. A saved HTML file is a snapshot, not a promise to reproduce a live web application. A page may look complete while a component that depends on scripts, a login, a user action, or a live remote service is missing or no longer interactive.
Which dynamic content controls does it offer?
The Firefox listing documents several options relevant to content that appears after the initial render or as a visitor moves through a page:

#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Delay: wait several seconds after the initial page-load event before saving. The listing says this can help with pages that show delayed search results.
- Scroll Page: scroll through the page to prompt lazy-loaded content to appear.
- Shrink Page: reduce the page height as a method of prompting lazy content to load.
- Load lazy images: request lazy images within existing content before saving.
For multi-page saves, the Firefox listing says tabs are switched to the foreground when lazy-content loading is enabled. These controls can help when a page reveals content through normal rendering or scrolling. They are not a substitute for a particular sequence of clicks, logging in, or keeping a continuously running service available.
What can be missing or behave differently?
Cross-origin frames and scripts
Mozilla’s listing says not all cross-origin frames can be saved. A cross-origin frame is saved only if all of its cross-origin ancestor frames can run content scripts, and scripts inside cross-origin frames are never saved. Depending on the page, that can affect third-party ads, comments, embedded widgets, or other external content. This is a documented constraint, not a measured failure rate for every embedded item.

Saved-item selection
The listing describes three resource-selection levels:
- Basic: HTML elements, currently displayed HTML and CSS images, canvas graphics, stylesheets, and fonts used by the browser.
- Standard: the Basic items plus all HTML images, audio and video, object/embed files, and WOFF fonts.
- Custom: lets you select among more resource types, including scripts in same-origin frames. Scripts in cross-origin frames are never saved.
Scripts are not run by default
Save Page WE allows saved scripts to execute, but says they are disabled by default. Therefore, a file can preserve a page’s appearance without preserving the original interactive behavior. The extension also offers controls to retain cross-origin frames, set a maximum nested-frame depth, and display a warning or list of resources that could not be saved. Check that report and open the downloaded file before treating an archive as complete.

What the available reliability evidence does—and does not—show
The Chrome Web Store listing describes the output as a “highly accurate representation,” but that is the developer’s characterization, not a benchmark. The reviewed official listings and source mirror publish no independent success-rate figure or controlled test across representative dynamic sites. Store ratings and user counts are not substitutes for capture testing.
As listed in 2026, the Chrome Web Store page showed a 4.5 out of 5 rating, 450 ratings, and 200,000 users; it notes ratings update daily and may not reflect the most recent reviews. The Mozilla Add-ons page showed a 4.4 out of 5 rating, 449 reviews, and 20,157 users. The two stores have separate populations, and neither set of figures measures how reliably dynamic content is captured.

The Chrome listing identifies version 33.9, last updated September 5, 2023. It documents an old and a new save method: the old method remembers the last save location but can fail on some pages, with Yahoo given as an example in Chrome 84 or later; the new method is described as able to save all pages but does not remember the last save location in Chrome.

The Mozilla listing identifies version 28.11, last updated March 31, 2023, and documents the same old-method caveat. The GitHub mirror says the Firefox 28.11 release predates Chrome’s 33.9 and that the mirror’s last code update was in 2023. These dates alone do not establish present-day breakage or incompatibility. Check the current store listing and test the exact browser, extension version, and save method you intend to rely on.
How to evaluate a capture for your use case
For an important page, assess the saved result against the specific content and behavior you need—not just whether a file downloaded.
- Record the browser, extension version, page URL, and whether the page requires a login.
- Trigger the content that matters, such as search results or content revealed by scrolling. Set the delay and lazy-content options where appropriate.
- Choose Basic, Standard, or Custom according to the resource types the page needs.
- Save the page, review any warning or missing-resource list, and open the HTML file in a browser.
- Compare the required appearance and interactions: check images, embedded frames, and any controls or content that depend on scripts.
This check is especially important when an archive must preserve more than a visual snapshot. A page that depends on cross-origin content or live application behavior may not be suitable for a single-file capture.
Or skip the browser setup
If you need a screenshot rather than a portable HTML archive, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. One GET request captures a URL; the example below saves a WebP image. See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for request options.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
