Samsung said the features would begin rolling out soon, but its announcement does not confirm which Galaxy models have each feature today. Check availability on your own device before relying on a particular capability.
What payment features did Samsung announce?
Samsung’s 30 October 2025 announcement covers several different payment tasks. UPI account payments, online card checkout and card Tap & Pay are separate capabilities; the announcement does not establish that they share the same setup or payment flow.

Samsung said Samsung Wallet is protected by Samsung Knox. That is Samsung’s description of its security, not an independent security assessment. Samsung executive Madhur Chaturvedi described the updates as making Wallet a “universal and secure gateway”; treat that as promotional language, not a measured comparison with other payment services. How to set up UPI in Samsung Wallet
Samsung’s India UPI guide documents a workflow for registering a UPI profile and virtual payment address (VPA), linking a bank account and setting a UPI PIN. Its guide is undated, so it describes Samsung’s documented process rather than confirming that every screen or label is current.

- Open Samsung Wallet and start UPI registration to create a UPI profile and VPA.
- Select the bank account you want to link. The mobile number used for setup must match the number registered with that bank account.
- Set a UPI PIN for the linked account when prompted.
- Use the resulting UPI profile to send or request money, pay online, scan a merchant QR code, pay for a cab ride or pay bills.

- Send or request money: Make a payment or request one through your UPI profile.
- Pay online: The guide includes online payment using a UPI VPA.
- Pay in a store: Scan a merchant QR code to pay.
- Pay for a cab or a bill: Samsung’s guide lists cab rides and bill payments as supported tasks.
These are UPI uses described in Samsung’s guide; they should not be confused with the newly announced stored-card online checkout or card Tap & Pay features.
Is Samsung Wallet Tap & Pay the same as UPI Tap & Pay?
Not on the evidence in these announcements. Samsung’s October 2025 announcement uses Tap & Pay for card features, including forex cards and AU Bank cards. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) separately describes UPI Tap & Pay as an NFC-based way to capture a payee’s UPI ID or VPA. NPCI says an NFC-capable device is required for that flow. Its overview also describes UPI Lite for payments up to ₹500 when enabled, or UPI PIN use otherwise. That ₹500 detail is specific to NPCI’s UPI Lite description; it is not a limit or feature stated for Samsung’s new biometric UPI authentication. How to check whether a feature is available on your Galaxy phone
Samsung says Samsung Pay is integrated under Samsung Wallet, but feature availability can vary by country or region, device model, carrier and firmware. The October 2025 announcement says rollout would begin soon; it does not verify that every announced feature has reached every supported phone since then.
- Open Samsung Wallet on the Galaxy phone you intend to use.
- Look for the relevant feature in the app and follow any on-screen eligibility or setup prompts.
- If it is absent, check Samsung’s support information for your region and device rather than assuming the announcement guarantees availability.
Samsung’s India Wallet page notes that features may differ by region, model, carrier and firmware. A general announcement is not confirmation that a particular phone currently supports a specific payment flow.
