What Samsung UK lists
Samsung’s UK consumer product page identifies the Core 5 laptop as the Galaxy Chromebook Plus 15.6-inch, model XE550XGA-KC2UK. Its listed specifications include an Intel Core 5 120U, 8GB onboard LPDDR5X memory and 256GB eUFS storage. Samsung also specifies a 15.6-inch 1920×1080 AMOLED display, a 68Wh battery and a weight of 1.17kg. See Samsung’s UK product listing.
How the Core 3 and Core 5 options compare
Google’s UK Chromebook Plus page lists both configurations for this Samsung model. The distinction shown is the processor tier and starting RRP; the listed RAM and storage are the same.
| Configuration | Memory | Storage | Google UK starting RRP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Intel Core 3 | 8GB | 256GB | £649 |
| Intel Core 5 | 8GB | 256GB | £749 |
These are starting RRPs displayed by Google, not confirmed Samsung checkout prices or live offers. The listed figures put the Core 5 option £100 above the Core 3 option, but the official pages do not establish a benchmarked performance difference. Google’s UK Chromebook Plus page labels its prices as RRP-based.

What the Core 5 specification means for buyers
The Core 5 listing is a processor-tier choice, not a documented memory or storage upgrade: Google shows 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for both versions. Samsung lists a Full HD AMOLED screen and a 1.17kg weight for the Core 5 model, details that may help distinguish it when comparing laptop size and display type. Google describes the Samsung model on its page as “Thinnest, lightest Chromebook Plus”; that is Google’s product-page wording, not an independently verified comparison.
Battery-life claim and software-update context
Samsung advertises “up to 13 hours of use” for the Core 5 model. This is a manufacturer claim, not an independently measured result; Google notes that battery life varies by device and conditions. Samsung’s product page and Google’s UK page provide those respective statements.

Google separately publishes hardware criteria under which certain older Chromebook models qualify for a Chromebook Plus OS update: a 12th-generation-or-newer Intel Core i3 or AMD Ryzen 3 5000-series-or-newer processor, at least 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, a 1080p-or-better camera with Temporal Noise Reduction, and a Full HD IPS-or-better display. The guidance concerns specified older models that meet the criteria; it is not a blanket promise about every feature or support duration for the XE550XGA-KC2UK. The product’s appearance on Samsung UK’s consumer site confirms a Core 5 listing and model number, but the cited pages do not establish a current Samsung checkout price, promotion or stock status. Samsung UK Business also lists the SKU, but its captured price fields do not provide a usable price. Treat Google’s £749 figure as its displayed UK starting RRP, not proof that the laptop is currently available from Samsung at that amount.
