Apple Notes is the clearer choice if you need to reach your notes from devices outside Apple’s ecosystem: Apple documents access through iCloud.com in a web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Samsung Notes works across Galaxy phones and tablets and supported Samsung PCs, while Samsung’s OneNote feed is a limited way to view and copy notes—not edit or delete them. The better fit depends on which devices you use and whether you need full editing away from the app’s native environment.

When Apple Notes is the better fit
You switch between Apple and non-Apple devices
Apple provides a straightforward documented route for checking iCloud Notes in a browser, which can help when you are using a computer or mobile device that does not run Apple’s Notes app. Apple’s iCloud guide says changes appear across devices configured with the same Apple Account and Notes enabled, and its setup guidance describes browser access at iCloud.com. Apple’s iCloud sync guide and browser access guide establish that path.
Browser access should not be mistaken for proof of complete feature parity with the Notes app. The cited Apple pages do not enumerate every feature available on iCloud.com, so check the specific function you rely on before making the switch.
You share notes with other iCloud users
Apple documents sharing notes or folders with iCloud users, choosing whether collaborators can view or edit, and seeing collaborator changes in real time. When Samsung Notes is the better fit
Your main devices are Galaxy phones, tablets and Samsung PCs
Samsung’s documented sync route is designed around Samsung devices: sign in with the same Samsung account and enable Samsung Cloud sync on both the Galaxy phone or tablet and PC. Samsung’s U.S. support page says, “Samsung Notes for PC is optimized for Samsung Galaxy Books only,” and warns that the app may not be compatible with other Windows computers. Samsung Support
Samsung’s PC help page lists text and checklists, handwriting and pen settings, PDF annotation, audio and drawing attachments, handwriting-to-text conversion, search and folders. You only need a limited bridge into Microsoft apps
Samsung lets users select folders to sync to a OneNote feed, which can be accessed through Microsoft services including OneNote for the web and Outlook on the web. However, Samsung states, “You cannot edit or remove notes from Samsung Notes using the OneNote feed.” Microsoft likewise says notes cannot be created, edited or deleted in the feed. Choose based on the device you need to use
- iPhone, iPad and Mac, plus occasional browser access elsewhere: Apple Notes has the more clearly documented cross-platform access route through iCloud.com.
- Galaxy phone or tablet plus a Samsung Galaxy Book: Samsung Notes offers a native sync-and-edit path across those devices.
- Samsung Notes content visible in Microsoft apps: The OneNote feed can help, but it does not provide editing or deletion there.
- Handwriting or PDF annotation matters: Samsung documents these capabilities in its PC app, but check the specific device and build you intend to use.
- You need a particular feature in a browser: Verify that feature directly; browser access alone does not prove full app parity.
What the documentation does—and does not—settle
The cited Apple support pages are from the UK, Samsung’s pages are from the U.S., and Microsoft’s support page is from the UK. Labels and behavior may vary with region, account setup, device and app version. These official pages establish access routes and limitations, but they do not provide a numeric comparison of sync speed, reliability or user satisfaction, nor a complete comparison of every feature on every platform.
