The Samsung Galaxy Watch6 is the better fit if you want a larger display choice and Samsung’s higher published battery-life estimate. The original Google Pixel Watch is the more natural choice if you want Google’s Fitbit-centered health experience and a compact, single-size design. Neither is a universal winner: check phone compatibility, the exact watch variant, support status, and the price and condition of the listing you can actually buy.
This comparison is between the Samsung Galaxy Watch6, announced in July 2023, and the first-generation Google Pixel Watch, announced in October 2022—not later models in either line. Both are older generations, so current stock and pricing depend on the seller and market.

Choose by phone and software needs
Galaxy Watch6: Android, with Samsung Health required
Samsung specifies Android 10 or newer and a compatible phone with at least 2 GB of RAM. Samsung Health is also part of the stated requirements. If a particular health function matters to you, check its requirements for your phone and region rather than assuming all features work identically on every Android device.
#1 Best Overall
- Rotating Bezel Design: Classic rotating bezel enables precise control and smooth navigation.
Pixel Watch: a lower Android version minimum
Google announced Android 8.0 or newer compatibility for the original Pixel Watch. That minimum alone does not establish that every feature or app will work the same way across devices. Confirm the requirements for the functions you plan to use before buying.
Compare the fit and display in person if possible
The Watch6 comes in 40 mm and 44 mm cases, with Samsung listing 1.3-inch and 1.5-inch displays respectively. The Pixel Watch has one 41 mm case and a 1.2-inch display. Think about the size you prefer to wear and read; case diameter alone cannot determine how a watch will fit your wrist.
Rank #2
- Larger Super AMOLED Display: Expanded screen area with slimmer bezels for improved visibility and usability.
Understand what the battery figures do—and do not—tell you
Samsung’s 2023 manufacturer estimates are up to 40 hours with Always On Display off and up to 30 hours with it on. Google’s 2022 estimate for the first Pixel Watch is up to 24 hours. These are not results from a controlled head-to-head test, and real-world battery life depends on settings and use.
In its 2023 testing, Wareable reported that the original Pixel Watch barely made it through a day and that the Watch6 did better in its tests. That is dated testing by Wareable, not a current or universal result.

Samsung’s listed sensor package
Samsung lists optical heart rate, electrical heart signal, bioelectrical impedance analysis, and temperature sensors for the Watch6. A list of sensors does not by itself establish how accurate or useful a specific measurement will be for you.
Google’s Fitbit-centered approach
Google presented the Pixel Watch around Fitbit integration, including ECG, sleep, and activity features. Google’s 2022 launch announcement says Fitbit’s experience draws on “20 billion nights tracked”; that is Google’s description of Fitbit’s data scale, not an independently audited statistic or a performance measure for this watch.

Health-feature access can depend on region and service terms. The cited specifications do not establish identical availability for every feature, so check the current requirements for your location and account before treating a feature as included.
Check durability and connectivity against how you will use it
Samsung lists 5 ATM, IP68, and MIL-STD-810H for the Watch6; Google lists 5 ATM and Gorilla Glass 5 cover glass for the Pixel Watch. Ratings and cover glass do not make either watch indestructible.
Best Value
- Smart watch with Wear OS by Samsung, Made of aluminum in Gold color Frame (Cream Band).
- Offers Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 2.4GHz and 5GHz, GPS and NFC. Ultra-durable sapphire crystal glass makes for a resilient and sturdy watch display, while IP68 and 5ATM ratings mean your watch is tough enough to stay with you on your adventures.
- Understand your nights to make the most of your days; wear your Galaxy Watch6 to bed and monitor your nightly sleep stage, sleep score and sleep consistency to improve your sleep.
- Sync your Galaxy Watch with your Galaxy smartphone, Tab, and Buds for a completely connected experience.
Both product lines offer connectivity options that include LTE. Before buying, verify whether a listing is Bluetooth/Wi-Fi or LTE, and check any carrier requirements and costs that apply in your market. Do not assume an LTE model will work with every carrier.

Google’s published update policy guarantees software updates for the first-generation Pixel Watch through at least October 2025. That guarantee date has passed, but it does not prove that no updates arrived afterward. Google’s policy lists the Pixel Watch 2 guarantee through at least October 2026.
For Samsung, a March 2026 US MSRP file marks the Galaxy Watch6 Bluetooth 40 mm Gold SKU SM-R930NZEDXAA as EOL. That identifies the status of this listed SKU, not every Watch6 size, color, connectivity version, or market. It also does not establish a Galaxy Watch6 software-support end date.
The original US launch prices are historical context, not current offers:

Quick Recap
Which watch is the better fit for you?
- Choose the Galaxy Watch6 if you want a choice of 40 mm or 44 mm case, a larger display option, Samsung’s stated battery estimates, and its listed sensor package—and your phone meets Samsung’s requirements.
- Choose the original Pixel Watch if you prefer a single compact 41 mm option and specifically want Google’s Fitbit-centered experience and Google apps, after checking the current feature and support situation.
- Pause before buying either if the listing’s condition, connectivity version, return policy, phone compatibility, or current local price is unclear. For a used or remaining-stock watch, those details may matter more than its original launch price.
