Verify storage capacity and expansion for the exact regional model before choosing: current capacities and microSD support are not established here for a model-by-model comparison.
How long will my Pixel get updates?
Google’s current policy gives Pixel 8 and later seven years of operating-system and security updates, counted from the device’s first availability on the Google Store in the US. Pixel 7-generation phones and Pixel Fold receive five years. Google’s listed Pixel 5a and earlier models no longer receive Android version or security updates. See Google’s Pixel update policy.
Update availability can vary by device and carrier, and a rollout may take weeks. The seven-year period is tied to the stated US Google Store availability date, so use the exact model’s start date to work out how much support remains when you buy it.
How many years of updates does Samsung Galaxy get?
Samsung says the Galaxy S26 series receives seven generations of operating-system upgrades and seven years of security updates from its global launch date. That commitment applies to the S26 series; do not assume it covers older or different Galaxy models. Check the support policy for the exact Galaxy model before buying. Samsung’s commitment is described in its Galaxy S26 launch announcement.

How should I compare update support between a Galaxy and a Pixel?
Compare the remaining support period, not just the number of years in a headline. The policies use different starting points: Google counts from first US Google Store availability, while Samsung’s S26 commitment counts from global launch. Find each phone’s relevant start date, then consider how long you expect to keep it. Policies for other models must be checked individually.
Does phone storage matter, and can I add a microSD card?
Built-in storage affects how much video, photography, offline media, games, and apps you can keep on the phone. The available information does not establish current capacity tiers or microSD support for specific Galaxy and Pixel models, so it cannot support a reliable model-by-model comparison or a general claim that either brand’s phone can take a card.

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.
- Camera: 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro). Battery: 5000 mAh, non-removable | A power adapter is NOT included.
Before choosing, open the manufacturer’s official specifications for the exact model and regional variant. Confirm the built-in capacity and whether that specific device supports expandable storage; do not carry an older Galaxy’s expansion options over to a newer model by assumption.
Will my phone warranty cover a cracked screen?
Not necessarily. Warranty coverage depends on the country, seller, device, and cause of the problem. Google says warranty periods vary by country and that eligible purchases from authorized third-party retailers or carriers can receive Google warranty support. Physical or liquid damage, including a cracked screen, may affect eligibility. Check the terms and support options for the specific device and issue in Google’s Pixel warranty and repair guidance.

Samsung’s cited standard limited warranty concerns eligible US purchases and manufacturing defects; it is not a global warranty promise or standard accidental-damage coverage. Samsung’s US guidance distinguishes that limited warranty from paid Samsung Care+. Where available, device coverage details may appear in Settings under Warranty and care. Review Samsung’s US warranty guidance and the applicable US limited warranty terms.
- Identify the country, seller, exact model or IMEI, and whether the phone is new or used.
- Confirm who provides the warranty and whether any protection plan is included or separately paid.
- Keep proof of purchase and check local consumer rights alongside the warranty terms.
What happens if my Samsung trade-in is rejected?
Samsung’s US trade-in program applies credit toward a qualifying purchase only when the submitted device meets the offer’s requirements. The rules can include working-device and screen conditions, removal of personal information, a factory reset, and disabling anti-theft locks. Samsung’s rejection guidance says an ineligible device may be valued at $0. Review the current Samsung trade-in requirements and trade-in terms for your offer.

Mind the return deadline and offer terms
In the S26 launch offer terms, Samsung said the trade-in had to be sent within 15 days of receiving the new purchase or the applied credit might be charged back. If the device arrived on time but failed the eligibility check, the stated chargeback was the credit minus $25. These conditions are specific to that cited offer, not a permanent rule for every Samsung trade-in. Eligible devices, credit amounts, and whether promotions can be combined depend on the offer terms.
Check the real value before you send a phone
- Compare the advertised credit with what the device may qualify for after condition inspection.
- Check whether credit is immediate or conditional, and note the return deadline.
- Remove accounts and anti-theft locks, reset the phone, and retain shipment proof; photographing its condition and packing can also help document the handoff.
- Check for any remaining carrier financing or service-contract obligations.
- Compare manufacturer, carrier, and retailer checkout totals rather than headline trade-in values.
Trade-in offers and third-party programs change. Verify the terms of the specific offer you plan to use rather than assuming a carrier or retailer follows Samsung’s rules.
