At their listed U.S. launch prices, the 256GB Samsung Galaxy S26 cost $899 and the 256GB Google Pixel 11 Pro cost $1,099—a $200 difference. The Galaxy is also 37g lighter in the cited specifications. The Pixel lists a higher-resolution 6.3-inch display, a larger battery capacity, and a 5x optical telephoto camera. Those specifications point to different strengths, not a universal winner; the better buy depends on current local pricing and the features you value.
Price difference: the Pixel 11 Pro launched $200 higher in the U.S.
The U.S. launch-price comparison is for the 256GB models, each listed with 12GB of RAM. The figures below are launch or review-time references, not live quotes. Promotions, trade-ins, carrier credits, taxes, and availability can change what you pay.

What the specifications mean in everyday use
The Galaxy is the lighter, lower-launch-price option
The Galaxy S26 weighs 167g, compared with 204g for the Pixel 11 Pro, and its listed dimensions are slightly smaller. That 37g difference may matter if you often use a phone one-handed or prefer a lighter device. The Galaxy’s lower launch price is another clear advantage in this comparison, although discounts may change the gap.
The Pixel lists a sharper screen and more telephoto detail
Both phones have a 6.3-inch display, but the Pixel’s listed resolution is higher. Its review also specifies a 120Hz refresh rate and outdoor peak brightness up to 3,600 nits. These specifications are not matched display-test results, so they do not prove which screen looks better in every condition.

The Pixel review specifies a 5x optical telephoto camera alongside its main and ultrawide cameras. The cited comparison does not provide a complete, equivalent Galaxy rear-camera specification set, so the available information cannot establish a head-to-head camera winner.
Battery capacity is not battery life
The listed capacities are 4,850mAh for the Pixel and 4,300mAh for the Galaxy. Capacity alone does not show how long either phone lasts: real endurance depends on the display, processor, software, signal conditions, and how the phone is used. The cited sources do not establish a matched, controlled battery-life comparison.

Software and regional configurations matter
The listed software differs: Android 16 with One UI 8.5 on the Galaxy, and Android 17 on the Pixel. Google describes the Pixel 11 family as having Tensor G6 and the latest Gemini Nano model in its official announcement; that is Google’s product description, not an independent comparison of AI performance. Samsung lists Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 or Exynos 2600 depending on the regional model, so verify the processor in the version sold where you live.
Which phone should you buy?
- Choose the Galaxy S26 if the lower listed launch price and lighter weight are your priorities. Check the exact storage tier and regional processor before purchase.
- Choose the Pixel 11 Pro if you prefer Pixel software and Gemini features, or place particular value on the listed higher-resolution display, larger battery capacity, and 5x optical telephoto hardware.
- Compare current offers if price is decisive. Check the same storage tier and account for trade-ins, carrier terms, and taxes; launch MSRPs do not predict today’s checkout price.
- Do not decide on battery life or camera results from specifications alone. The cited sources do not provide matched tests for those comparisons.
Launch timing and source context
Samsung announced the Galaxy S26 on February 25, 2026, with deliveries starting March 11. Google announced the Pixel 11 Pro on August 12, with retail availability starting August 20. TechRadar reported seeing the Galaxy S26 for $799 in the U.S. at the time of its review; that dated observation is not a current-price guarantee.

Google’s announcement calls Tensor G6 its “fastest, most powerful chip.” That is the company’s marketing characterization, not independent evidence that the Pixel outperforms the Galaxy in a particular task. The listed Android versions, battery capacities, and screen specifications likewise should be treated as specifications rather than proof of overall superiority.
