These figures come from different sources and, for Xiaomi, regional manufacturer listings. For example, the stated peak brightness figures may use different measurement methods and do not establish sustained brightness in ordinary use. Neither the processor names nor camera resolutions substitute for a same-condition performance or image-quality comparison.
What is the price difference?
India listing snapshot
Smartprix displayed ₹69,999 for the Galaxy S26 FE and ₹55,999 for a Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G 12GB result. The arithmetic difference is ₹14,000, with the Redmi listing lower. This is a third-party price snapshot surfaced on October 4, 2026, not an official Xiaomi price or a verified like-for-like offer. The result does not establish matching storage, seller, warranty, or promotion terms. Check those details and the final checkout price before comparing.

Galaxy launch prices are a separate reference
TechRadar reports that the Galaxy S26 FE first went on sale September 4, 2026. Its reported launch price for the 128GB model was $699 / £699 / AU$1,149; the 256GB model was $799 / £799 / AU$1,299. These are launch prices in different markets, not current offers, and they cannot be directly compared with the India snapshot above. TechRadar lists a 512GB model for the UK and Australia, but not the US.

For any local price comparison, match country and currency, storage tier, new or refurbished condition, seller, warranty, promotions, and included accessories. TechRadar’s Galaxy S26 FE review provides the launch-price context.
Which phone has the bigger, sharper screen?
The Redmi’s listed panel is larger at 6.83 inches and has a higher stated resolution of 2772 × 1280, compared with the Galaxy’s 6.7-inch, 1080 × 2340 display. Both are listed as capable of refresh rates up to 120Hz, though the Galaxy listing also specifies 60/120Hz. Xiaomi India lists peak brightness up to 3,500 nits, while TechRadar lists 1,900 nits for the Galaxy; treat these as specifications from different sources, not a controlled brightness test.
Choose based on the size and resolution you want, but do not assume the peak-brightness figures predict how bright either screen remains during prolonged use.

Battery, wired charging and wireless charging
Capacity and charging claims
Xiaomi lists a 10,000mAh typical-capacity battery and 100W HyperCharge for the Redmi, plus wired reverse charging up to 27W. TechRadar lists a 4,900mAh battery and 45W wired charging for the Galaxy. Those listed capacities and maximum charging rates point to a substantial hardware difference, but they do not prove comparative battery life or refill times. Xiaomi’s battery and charging figures are manufacturer claims; actual results can vary.

TechRadar reports 15W wireless charging for the Galaxy. Xiaomi’s cited Redmi specifications list wired charging and wired reverse charging, not wireless charging, so these sources do not establish wireless charging support for the Redmi. TechRadar also reports reviewer observations about the Galaxy’s battery and charging, but those are not a same-condition test against the Redmi.
Xiaomi’s global Redmi specifications describe battery and charging features, including the company’s qualified battery-life claim. Do not treat “up to 3 days” as an independently measured expectation for every user.

Camera systems: telephoto versus megapixel count
The clearest hardware distinction is the Galaxy’s dedicated 8MP 3x telephoto camera. TechRadar lists it alongside a 50MP wide and 12MP ultra-wide camera. Xiaomi lists a 50MP OIS main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide camera for the Redmi; its cited specification does not list a dedicated telephoto lens.
The Redmi has the higher listed front-camera resolution at 32MP versus 12MP on the Galaxy, but megapixel counts alone do not predict selfie quality. Likewise, lens roles and resolution cannot establish which phone takes better photos; the cited sources do not provide a direct, same-condition camera comparison.
Processor, software support and regional differences
Performance and updates
The sources list an Exynos 2500 in the Galaxy and a 4nm Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 in the Redmi. No shared benchmark in the cited material establishes which is faster, so the processor names alone are not enough to declare a performance winner.

TechRadar reports seven generations of Android and seven years of security updates for the Galaxy. Xiaomi advertises six years of security updates for the Redmi. These are differently worded commitments; the cited details do not establish matching support start dates.
Redmi configurations and package contents
Xiaomi’s India specifications list 8GB or 12GB RAM with 256GB storage, and say a 100W charger and protective case are included. Xiaomi’s UK page shows 8GB RAM with either 256GB or 512GB storage and says a power adapter is not included; it recommends a compatible 100W PD adapter or Xiaomi’s 100W adapter. Package contents therefore vary by region, so check the specific local listing rather than assuming every Redmi includes a charger.
The regional pages also differ on weight: Xiaomi lists 229g in India and 225.1g in the UK. They specify different connectivity-band sets as well, so buyers should verify that the exact regional variant supports the bands used by their carrier.

- Choose the Redmi for the listed battery and screen hardware: it has a 10,000mAh typical battery, 100W wired charging and a larger, higher-resolution display on Xiaomi’s specifications.
- Choose the Galaxy if you want a dedicated telephoto camera or wireless charging: TechRadar lists a 3x telephoto lens and 15W wireless charging for it.
- Compare the exact local offers before deciding: the India price gap is a third-party snapshot with unverified configuration and seller equivalence, and Xiaomi’s charger inclusion differs between its India and UK pages.
- Do not choose on assumed camera or processor superiority: the cited sources do not provide controlled direct comparisons of camera quality, performance or battery life.
For water-related use, Xiaomi says its Underwater Mode does not extend water resistance. The company limits the stated use to static freshwater up to 2m for 30 minutes, excludes seawater, pools and hot water, and recommends a professional waterproof case.
