Galaxy S26 vs. S25: what’s the difference?
The changes most likely to affect a buying decision are the base S26’s slightly larger body and battery capacity, and the S26 Ultra’s camera aperture, charging specification, and built-in Privacy Display. Samsung’s Ireland comparison lists the base S26 at 6.3 inches and 167g, compared with the S25 at 6.2 inches and 162g. It lists typical battery capacity as 4,300mAh for S26 and 4,000mAh for S25; those are capacity figures, not battery-life test results. Samsung’s Ireland S25/S26 comparison also states that specifications may vary by country.
For the Ultra, Samsung lists a 200MP main camera with an f/1.4 aperture on S26 Ultra, versus f/1.7 on S25 Ultra, and wired charging at 60W versus 45W. Samsung says the S26 Ultra aperture is 47% brighter; that is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independent camera test. Samsung describes the S26 Ultra as supporting S Pen and featuring built-in Privacy Display. These features may be decisive if you want stylus input or a screen-privacy feature, but the specifications alone do not establish overall camera quality, charging time, or battery life.
Processor listings are regional: Samsung Ireland lists Exynos 2600 for S26 and S26+, and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy for S26 Ultra. Its comparison lists Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy for the S25 models. Check the exact regional configuration before buying rather than assuming every country gets the same processor.

Which Galaxy S25 or S26 model should you choose?
Galaxy S26: the smaller current-generation option
Samsung describes the S26 as the portable member of the family. The Ireland comparison lists a 6.3-inch display, 167g weight, 4,300mAh typical battery, and 256GB or 512GB storage. Choose it if you want the smallest S26 without moving to an older generation. It is still slightly larger and heavier than the S25 by Samsung’s listed measurements.
Galaxy S26+: a larger screen without the Ultra tier
The S26+ has a 6.7-inch QHD+ display and 4,900mAh typical battery in Samsung Ireland’s comparison, with 256GB or 512GB storage. It is the middle choice if screen area matters more than compactness and you do not need the Ultra’s camera setup or S Pen support.

Galaxy S26 Ultra: camera features, S Pen, and 1TB option
The S26 Ultra has a 6.9-inch display and is the only S26 model Samsung’s launch announcement lists with a 1TB option. Its 200MP f/1.4 main camera, S Pen support, and Privacy Display set it apart from the other two models. Consider it if those specific features justify a larger device and the local price premium.
When an S25 is the better buy
Compare the actual discounted S25 price in your market with the S26 price for the capacity you need. Samsung Ireland lists the S25 at 6.2 inches and 162g, the S25+ at 6.7 inches and 190g, and the S25 Ultra at 6.9 inches and 218g. The older generation may suit you if its local discount matters more than the S26 changes; launch prices are not current price quotes. What are the available storage options for the Samsung Galaxy S26 phones?
Samsung’s US S26 launch announcement lists 256GB and 512GB for S26 and S26+, and 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB for S26 Ultra. Samsung’s Ireland comparison lists the same S26 tiers. An unresolved US 128GB S26 listing
A Samsung US MSRP sheet effective March 2026 includes a 128GB unlocked S26 SKU at $799.99, as well as 256GB at $899.99 and 512GB at $1,099.99. That conflicts with Samsung’s S26 announcement and UK/Ireland materials, which list 256GB as the smallest S26 tier. The MSRP sheet does not establish that the 128GB phone is currently orderable. Before choosing it, check the current Samsung product page and carrier catalog for your market. How much storage should you get?
Start with the phone you use now: check how much storage your photos and videos, downloaded media, games, and other apps occupy. Then estimate what you will keep locally on the new phone rather than assuming everything will move to cloud storage. Samsung notes that usable capacity is reduced by preloaded software, so a device does not provide the full advertised capacity for your own files.
- Choose the lower tier if your current stored content and expected additions fit comfortably within it, and the price difference is better spent elsewhere.
- Consider 512GB if your photo, video, app, or offline-media collection is large or you prefer keeping more content on-device. Compare the local premium over 256GB before deciding.
- Consider 1TB only on a model that offers it—among the S26 models in Samsung’s launch announcement, that is the Ultra—and when your expected local library justifies its price premium.
There is no reliable universal number of years or users that a storage tier will suit: that depends on how much content you create, retain, and download. Compare the capacity premium with your own expected use and the actual local price, not an old launch MSRP.

What do the launch prices tell you?
Samsung announced US launch starting prices of $899.99 for S26, $1,099.99 for S26+, and $1,299.99 for S26 Ultra. These are launch figures, not live quotes or a guide to current discounts. The separate March 2026 US MSRP sheet lists prices by storage configuration, including the conflicting 128GB S26 entry. Check the current seller listing for the exact model and capacity before comparing offers. Samsung’s launch announcement also named Amazon Stores as a sales channel, which does not confirm current inventory.
