The Galaxy S25 is the lighter, slightly smaller phone; the Pixel 9 Pro has a slightly larger, higher-resolution display and Google’s stated seven-year update commitment. Price depends on when and where you shop: Samsung’s U.S. listing showed $799.99 for the unlocked 128GB S25 and $899.99 for 256GB on October 4, 2026, while the Pixel 9 Pro launched at $999 in the U.S. Those figures are not a like-for-like current-price comparison.

Software updates Support period not established in the cited source set Seven years of OS, Pixel Drops, and security updates, counted from first U.S. Google Store availability

Samsung’s published S25 figures are from its U.S. specifications listing; Google’s are from its Pixel 9 Pro technical specifications and Pixel update policy. Display size is measured diagonally, and figures alone do not determine which screen looks better to an individual viewer.

What is the price difference?

Samsung’s U.S. purchase listing displayed $799.99 for the unlocked 128GB Galaxy S25 and $899.99 for the 256GB model when observed on October 4, 2026. These are manufacturer-page prices that can change and do not represent every retailer’s price. Samsung’s listing also says the S25 does not include a charger.

Google announced a U.S. launch starting price of $999 for the Pixel 9 Pro in 2024. Comparing that launch MSRP with Samsung’s observed listing gives a nominal $199 difference versus the 128GB S25 or $99 versus the 256GB S25. Because the prices come from different dates and contexts, those differences should not be read as today’s market gap.

Which phone is easier to carry?

At 162g, the Galaxy S25 is 37g lighter than the 199g Pixel 9 Pro, based on the manufacturers’ published figures. Its screen is also 0.1 inch smaller diagonally. If low weight and a compact handset matter most, the published dimensions and weight favor the Samsung.

How do their displays compare?

The Pixel 9 Pro has a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED panel with a resolution of 1280 × 2856 and a 1–120Hz refresh range. The S25 has a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display at 2340 × 1080 with refresh up to 120Hz. On paper, the Pixel is both larger and higher in resolution; both specifications describe high-refresh displays. These numbers do not establish brightness, color accuracy, outdoor readability, or which display will look better in use.

What do the camera specifications tell you?

Samsung lists a 50MP, 10MP, and 12MP rear-camera combination, including 3× optical zoom, and 8K video recording at 30fps. Google identifies the Pixel 9 Pro as having a triple rear-camera system, but the cited specifications excerpt does not provide its detailed camera resolutions. Megapixel counts are not a reliable standalone measure of image quality, and the available figures do not establish a camera winner. Choose based on matched photo and video samples if camera output is decisive.

Battery, charging, and software support

Battery and charging

Google lists a typical 4,700mAh battery for the Pixel 9 Pro and says it can reach up to 55% charge in about 30 minutes when using Google’s separately sold 45W USB-C charger. No comparable S25 battery or charging figures were established in the cited material, so these details do not show which phone lasts longer or charges faster overall.

Update commitment

Google says Pixel 9 phones receive seven years of OS, Pixel Drops, and security updates, counted from when each device first became available on the Google Store in the U.S. This is Google’s stated commitment; it does not guarantee that every feature will be available in every country or language. A comparable Samsung support-period figure is not established here, so the two phones cannot be ranked on update duration from these figures alone.

Which phone should you choose?

  • Choose the Galaxy S25 if you prioritize lower weight, a slightly smaller screen, or Samsung’s listed camera configuration and 3× optical zoom.
  • Choose the Pixel 9 Pro if you want a slightly larger, higher-resolution display or place particular value on Google’s documented seven-year update commitment.
  • Compare live offers before buying if price is the deciding factor. Match storage and purchase conditions rather than comparing a current listing with an older launch price.

Real-world camera quality, battery life, sustained performance, and software preference are not settled by the published specifications alone; they require comparable testing or a hands-on decision based on your own priorities.
