Those are 2025 introductory prices—not current checkout quotes—so compare the same storage and RAM configuration and verify today’s seller, stock, warranty and offers before buying.

How different are the launch prices?
Samsung announced the following introductory prices in India in 2025. The launch notice stated an instant ₹3,000 bank discount on the M56 variants and a ₹1,000 bank discount on the M36 6GB/128GB variant; it did not state a discount for the other listed M36 variants. These are historical launch terms, not proof that the same prices or offers remain available.

At those published launch prices, the like-for-like gap was ₹7,000 for both 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB models. This is the arithmetic difference between Samsung’s announced prices before any applicable discounts, not a current saving. The two launch notices are the M56 notice and M36 notice.

Retail listings can change, and one comparison-page snapshot displayed the M56 at ₹27,999 as out of stock and the M36 at ₹21,999 with Amazon listing context. That snapshot does not establish live inventory or a reliable current price difference. Check the final checkout total for the exact variant, seller, warranty and offer terms.
Which phone is better for performance?
Samsung lists the M56 with an Exynos 1480 and the M36 with an Exynos 1380. That makes the M56 the more attractive specification-led choice if you are prioritizing chipset tier, but the model names and manufacturing-node figures do not establish a particular speed advantage in everyday use or sustained gaming. The available Samsung launch information does not provide a matched independent benchmark between the two phones.
For a purchase decision, look for testing of the exact Indian variants and workloads you care about—such as gaming sessions, app loading or thermal behavior—rather than treating a chipset label as a measured result.

Display: same size and refresh class, different panel branding
Both phones have a 6.7-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate in Samsung’s announcements. Samsung describes the M56 panel as Super AMOLED+ and the M36 as Super AMOLED. The M56 notice states 1200 nits HBM; the M36 notice mentions Vision Booster without giving an equivalent brightness figure. The figures therefore do not support a direct brightness ranking.

Samsung lists a 50MP OIS triple rear-camera setup on each phone. The M56 product listing specifies 50MP, 8MP and 2MP rear cameras, while the M36 launch notice describes its rear setup as a 50MP OIS triple camera. For the front camera, the M36 has the higher stated resolution at 13MP versus 12MP HDR on the M56. That difference does not by itself show which phone takes better selfies: image processing, optics and testing matter too.
Samsung lists 4K/30fps 10-bit HDR video for the M56 and 4K video on both front and rear cameras for the M36. Check the exact recording modes and camera behavior you need; the launch specifications are not a comparative image-quality test.

Battery, charging and the physical difference
Both models list a 5000mAh battery. Samsung specifies 45W charging for the M56 and 25W for the M36, but those wattages alone do not establish real charging times. Samsung’s M56 product page says its 45W fast charger is sold separately, so confirm what is included with the specific regional SKU and whether you need to buy a compatible charger.
Samsung lists the M56 at 7.2mm and 180g, compared with 7.7mm and 197g for the M36. On those stated dimensions, the M56 is 0.5mm thinner and 17g lighter. Regional variant details should be checked when comparing product listings.
Software support and launch dates
Samsung announced six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates for both phones. Treat these as Samsung’s published support policy, not an unconditional guarantee: Samsung’s M56 product page says update information reflects current plans and is not a commitment. One UI 7 is the launch software stated for both models; it does not necessarily describe the version installed today.

Samsung announced the M56 in India on 17 April 2025 and the M36 on 30 June 2025. Samsung’s M36 product listing gives a launch date of 27 June 2025, a different date field from the later announcement notice.
Which one should you buy?
Choose the Galaxy M56 if
- You value the stronger listed chipset tier, Super AMOLED+ branding, thinner/lighter dimensions or 45W charging support.
- You are comparing equivalent RAM/storage models and its current checkout price makes those specification differences worthwhile.
Choose the Galaxy M36 if
- You want a lower-cost option and its current price is meaningfully below the comparable M56 configuration.
- You prefer its listed 13MP front-camera resolution or 4K front-camera video specification, while recognizing that neither alone establishes better overall camera quality.
Neither choice can be declared the better performer, camera phone or battery-life option from these specifications alone. The cited Samsung information is manufacturer-published; it does not provide a matched independent comparison of real-world speed, endurance, image quality, brightness or durability.
