Which should you buy? It depends chiefly on the current price for the same storage configuration. Samsung announced U.S. starting prices of $499.99 for the Galaxy A56 5G in 2025 and $449.99 for the Galaxy A37 5G in 2026—a historical $50 difference, not a verified current price gap. The A56 has a higher-resolution ultrawide camera; the A37 has the higher IP rating and launched with a newer Android and One UI version. Check local offers before treating either as the better value.
Samsung Galaxy A56 vs A37: key specifications
Samsung’s U.S. specifications show that these phones share several headline features: a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate up to 120Hz, a 5,000mAh typical battery, and a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS). Their clearest listed hardware differences are the ultrawide camera resolution and ingress-protection rating.

Samsung announced a U.S. starting price of $499.99 for the A56 in 2025 and $449.99 for the A37 in 2026. The $50 difference is between announced starting prices from different launch periods; it does not show how far apart the phones are priced today.

Samsung Electronics America’s March 2026 U.S. MSRP sheet lists the unlocked A56 at $499.99 for 128GB and $549.99 for 256GB, and marks both variants EOL. The reviewed sources do not establish a matching current A37 retail price, so there is no verified like-for-like current price comparison here.
When checking offers, compare the same country, storage and RAM tier, unlocked or carrier status, and promotion or trade-in conditions. A lower price for a different configuration is not a direct comparison.
Camera comparison: the A56 has the higher-resolution ultrawide
The A56’s listed 12MP ultrawide camera has more resolution than the A37’s 8MP ultrawide. That is a specification-sheet advantage, not proof that every ultrawide photo will look better: megapixels alone do not establish image quality.

Both phones are listed with a 50MP OIS main camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a 12MP front camera. Their headline main-camera specifications are similar, but those figures do not establish identical processing or real-world results. No directly comparable camera test is established by the available sources.
Durability: A37 is rated IP68; A56 is IP67
The A37 has an IP68 rating, while the A56 is rated IP67. Under the IP code, the first digit describes protection against solid particles such as dust and the second describes water protection; the higher water-protection digit on the A37 is the meaningful distinction in these ratings.
Neither rating means a phone is waterproof or guaranteed safe in every wet situation. An IP rating reflects specified test conditions, not all real-world exposure, and it should not be treated as permission to submerge or deliberately expose a phone to water.

Software and support: A37 starts with the newer version
Samsung lists the A56 as launching with Android 15 and One UI 7, and the A37 with Android 16 and One UI 8.5. Both device generations carry Samsung’s promise of up to six Android and One UI upgrades and six years of security updates.
That shared support promise does not mean they start on the same software version or have the same updates remaining at a given moment. Samsung’s stated maximum is not a guarantee of a particular update date or delivery schedule.
Battery and charging: published claims use different wording
Samsung lists a typical 5,000mAh battery for each model. Its U.S. A56 launch materials specify 45W charging. A Samsung UK A37 product page describes Super Fast Charging 2.0 and says the phone can reach up to 60% in about 30 minutes.

Performance
Samsung identifies the A56 chipset as Exynos 1580. The A37 page describes an octa-core processor, but the reviewed specifications do not establish a directly comparable chipset name or benchmark result for both models. A performance winner cannot be determined from that information alone.
Memory and storage
The U.S. launch options differ: Samsung lists the A56 with 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage, while the A37 is listed with either 6GB RAM and 128GB storage or 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Samsung’s UK A37 page highlights an 8GB/256GB configuration, which should not be assumed to describe every market.

Weight
Samsung’s U.S. table gives the A56 a weight of 198g and the A37 a weight of 196g. The two-gram difference is small, and specifications can vary by market or configuration.
Which phone should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy A56 if
- You value the higher-resolution 12MP ultrawide specification over the A37’s 8MP ultrawide.
- You can buy it at a current price that makes sense against the A37 in the same market and storage tier.
- You want Samsung’s published Exynos 1580 chipset identification, while recognizing that the available information does not establish a comparative performance win.
Choose the Galaxy A37 if
- You prioritize its IP68 rating over the A56’s IP67 rating.
- You want the newer launch software generation: Android 16 and One UI 8.5, as listed by Samsung.
- Its current local price and configuration are more attractive for your needs.
If the phones cost about the same for comparable configurations, decide whether the A56’s ultrawide specification or the A37’s ingress rating and newer launch software matter more to you. If prices differ substantially, compare the actual offers first rather than relying on the historical $50 launch-price gap.
