The Galaxy A35 5G and Galaxy A55 5G share the same 6.6-inch, 120Hz display headline, 5,000mAh typical battery capacity, 50MP stabilized main camera, and Samsung-announced software-support commitment. The A55’s listed upgrades include a higher-resolution ultrawide and selfie camera, plus a newer processor in Samsung India’s launch specifications. At UK launch in March 2024, it cost £100 more than the A35 at either matching storage tier. That is a historical UK comparison—not a statement of today’s prices.

What does the Galaxy A55 add over the A35?
Higher listed camera resolutions beyond the main lens
The rear main cameras share a 50MP resolution, f/1.8 aperture, autofocus, and optical image stabilization. The A55 instead differentiates itself in the secondary cameras: its ultrawide is listed at 12MP against 8MP on the A35, and its front camera at 32MP against 13MP. Both have a 5MP macro camera. These are specification differences, not independent evidence that the A55 takes better photos in every situation. Samsung Global
A higher processor tier in India’s specifications
Samsung India lists an Exynos 1480 in the A55 and an Exynos 1380 in the A35. That identifies the chips in that regional launch information; without comparable independent testing, it is not enough to quantify differences in gaming, app loading, or battery efficiency. Samsung India
Different materials and a small weight trade-off
Samsung India describes the A55 as having a metal frame and the A35 as having a glass back. Both models are described as IP67-rated in that regional information; Samsung’s US A35 page also lists IP67 for that model. Regional specifications can vary, so check the exact local version. IP67 is not a promise that a phone is waterproof or indestructible. Samsung India Samsung US Samsung Global

How much more did the Galaxy A55 cost at UK launch?
Samsung UK’s March 11, 2024 launch announcement listed the following recommended retail prices. It said retail availability began March 20, 2024; these are launch figures, not current prices. Samsung UK
| UK launch configuration | Galaxy A35 5G | Galaxy A55 5G | A55 premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8GB + 128GB | £339 | £439 | £100 |
| 8GB + 256GB | £389 | £489 | £100 |
Prices differ by country, date, and configuration. For a buying decision now, compare the same RAM and storage in your local market rather than treating the UK launch premium as universal. Samsung’s US launch announcement gives an A35 starting price of $399.99 but does not establish a comparable A55-versus-A35 price gap there. Samsung India’s launch page lists A55 prices of INR 36,999, 39,999, and 42,999 and A35 prices of INR 27,999 and 30,999; the page notes bank cashback in its published prices. Neither regional launch source establishes current pricing. Samsung US Samsung India

Which phone should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy A35 if
- It is meaningfully cheaper than the A55 in your market for the same RAM and storage.
- You mainly want the shared display, battery-capacity, and main-camera headline specifications.
- You do not place much value on the A55’s higher listed ultrawide and front-camera resolutions.
Choose the Galaxy A55 if
- The local price gap is acceptable and you want the higher listed ultrawide and selfie camera resolutions.
- You prefer the materials Samsung describes for the A55 in your region, while accounting for its listed 4g higher weight.
- You have independent performance tests for your intended workload and find the result worth the extra cost; Samsung India’s processor names alone do not quantify that benefit.
Check these details before paying
- Compare identical RAM and storage configurations and the price available now from a seller you trust.
- Confirm the exact regional model’s processor, construction, and IP rating, since Samsung notes specifications may vary by market.
- Check the handset’s update status and the remaining support period from your purchase date; the announced support terms are not proof of updates already delivered to that device.
