The Galaxy A17 5G is lighter in the configurations compared. Both offer a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, a 50 MP main camera with OIS, a 5,000 mAh typical battery, and a stated six OS upgrades plus six years of security support. These are manufacturer specifications, not results from hands-on testing.
Samsung Galaxy A26 5G vs. Galaxy A17 5G: specifications
The comparison uses Samsung’s UAE listing for the A26 5G (6 GB/128 GB) and UK listing for the A17 5G (4 GB/128 GB). The models and markets are not a like-for-like retail comparison, so check the exact local model and configuration before buying.

Where the A26 5G has an edge
Higher listed refresh rate
Both phones have the same stated screen size, panel type, and FHD+ resolution. The A26’s specification lists refresh rates up to 120 Hz, compared with up to 90 Hz for the A17. A higher refresh-rate ceiling can make supported scrolling and animations look smoother, but it does not by itself establish overall display quality or battery life.

Higher-resolution ultrawide and 4K video listing
The A26’s ultrawide camera is listed at 8 MP versus 5 MP on the A17. That is a difference in sensor resolution, not proof that the A26 takes better photos; image quality also depends on factors that a megapixel count does not describe. Samsung’s cited A26 page lists UHD 4K recording at 30 fps, while the cited A17 page lists FHD at 30 fps. Confirm video capabilities for the exact local model.
Higher published ingress-protection rating
The A26 is rated IP67 and the A17 IP54. Samsung says the A26’s rating reflects testing in up to 1 m of freshwater for up to 30 minutes, and advises against beach or pool use; resistance can diminish over time. Neither rating means a phone is waterproof or protected from every kind of liquid exposure.

Where the A17 5G may suit you better
Lighter body
In the cited configurations, the A17 weighs 192 g and the A26 weighs 200 g. The A17 is also thinner at 7.5 mm versus 7.7 mm, while the A26 is slightly shorter and narrower. Those differences are small on paper, but may matter if you prefer a lighter phone.
Battery claims need context
Both listings give a typical battery capacity of 5,000 mAh. Samsung lists up to 17 hours of video playback for the A26 and up to 18 hours for the A17. These are manufacturer estimates, not results from a controlled head-to-head test; actual runtime varies with settings, network conditions, apps, and use.

Software support and regional differences
Samsung states six OS upgrades or generations and six years of security support for both phones. The cited pages show different security-support end dates: 31 March 2031 for the UAE A26 listing and 31 August 2031 for the UK A17 listing. Those dates are tied to their respective regional product pages; they do not establish that the A17 necessarily receives longer support. Check the policy and model listing for your market.
The compared RAM configurations also differ: the cited A26 is 6 GB/128 GB and the cited A17 is 4 GB/128 GB. These are regional examples, not universal configurations. Samsung’s UAE A26 page currently marks the listing “Not for sale,” while Samsung’s US comparison page lists microSD support up to 2 TB for the A17 even though the cited UK specification page does not state it. Confirm local availability, memory, card-slot arrangement, radio bands, and carrier compatibility against the precise model number.

Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the A26 5G if you want the higher listed refresh rate, higher-resolution ultrawide camera, IP67 rating, or a local A26 configuration whose microSD support is confirmed.
- Choose the A17 5G if you prioritize the lighter cited configuration or find it at a better price for comparable RAM and storage.
- Compare before deciding by checking local price for equivalent configurations, exact model and carrier-band compatibility, storage expansion, and support terms in your region.
No like-for-like local price comparison is established by the cited pages, so there is no reliable overall value winner here. The best choice depends on local pricing and which differences matter to you.
