To set the time on a Samsung Galaxy A14, open Settings > General management > Date and time. Turn on Automatic date and time to use network-provided date and time, or turn it off to enter the date and time yourself. The time zone has its own control, and Use 24-hour format changes only how the time looks.
These instructions follow Samsung’s Galaxy A14 5G manual and support guidance. Menu labels and available options can differ by model, region, and software version, so use the labels shown on your phone if they do not match exactly.
Which time setting should I change?
Choose the setting that matches the problem: automatic date and time controls the clock’s date and hour; automatic time zone controls the region used to calculate local time; and 24-hour format changes the display without correcting or changing the underlying time.

Samsung’s date-and-time support guide says the manual date and time controls are hidden while automatic date and time is enabled. That is why the automatic switch must be turned off before you can edit those entries.

Automatic and manual settings trade convenience for control. Automatic date and time is the straightforward choice for day-to-day use because it follows network-provided information and can accommodate changes associated with travel or daylight-saving cycles. Manual entry is useful when you need to set a particular date or hour yourself, but it can leave the phone showing an inaccurate value if you forget to correct it. Automatic time zone is a separate decision: it is convenient when moving between regions, while a manually selected zone gives you control over the region the phone uses.
Changing the display from 12-hour to 24-hour time is different from both choices. It affects readability only; it neither selects a time zone nor changes the clock’s accuracy.
How do I set the date and time automatically?
Use automatic date and time when you want the phone to follow the time information it receives from the network. Samsung’s A14 5G manual says, “By default, your device receives date and time information from the wireless network.”

- If you also want the phone to select the local time zone, turn on Automatic time zone.
The two switches do separate jobs: automatic date and time governs the date and clock time, while automatic time zone governs the selected region. Samsung describes automatic time as accounting for changes associated with travel and daylight-saving cycles. If the result still looks wrong, check both switches rather than assuming the clock itself is the only issue.
Automatic settings depend on the time information available to the phone’s network connection. Samsung’s materials do not establish that every A14 model receives time over Wi-Fi in every situation, so do not treat Wi-Fi alone as a guarantee that automatic time will update. If the phone is offline or its network time is not producing the expected result, inspect the time zone and consider a temporary manual setting.
After enabling the automatic controls, check the displayed date, hour, and selected time zone. If you have travelled, the network-provided time and the selected zone both matter: an accurate clock time paired with the wrong region can still show the wrong local hour. You can leave automatic date and time on while turning off automatic time zone to choose a region yourself, or leave the zone automatic while manually setting the date and hour.
How do I change the time or date manually?
Turn off Automatic date and time first. Once it is off, the phone should expose Set date and Set time on the same Date and time screen.

- Turn off Automatic date and time.
- Tap Set date, enter the correct date, and confirm.

Use manual mode only when you need direct control. An intentionally incorrect clock is not a good permanent workaround: Samsung warns that an inaccurate date or time can disrupt apps and websites and may cause security problems. When the immediate need has passed, restore automatic date and time if that is appropriate for your connection and circumstances.
Manual date and time and manual time-zone selection are independent choices. You can turn off automatic date and time to edit the clock while leaving automatic time zone enabled, or select a time zone manually without necessarily editing the date and hour.
If you are setting the clock manually, check both the date and the hour before leaving the screen. A wrong date can be a different problem from a wrong local hour, and changing the time-zone selection is not a substitute for correcting a manually entered date. If the phone later receives network time while automatic mode is enabled, the displayed value may follow that information again.
How do I change the time zone?
To select a time zone yourself, turn off Automatic time zone on the Date and time screen, then choose the appropriate region or zone offered by your phone. If the phone is showing the wrong hour but the date is correct, check this setting before changing the clock manually.
- Open Settings > General management > Date and time.
- Turn off Automatic time zone.
- Tap the time-zone selection control and choose the intended region or zone.
Samsung says a manually selected time zone that observes daylight saving time still adjusts on the appropriate date. In other words, choosing a zone manually does not by itself mean daylight-saving changes are disabled. The exact selection screen can vary, so confirm that the chosen region is the one you intend rather than relying only on the displayed hour.
The A14 5G manual also lists Set time zone based on location. Its availability and behavior should be checked on the installed software; it is not a control to assume every Galaxy A14 has. If the option is present, read its on-screen explanation before enabling it.
For a time-zone problem, do not immediately change the clock by hand. First decide whether the phone should select the zone automatically or use a zone you specify. When travelling, automatic time zone can make the switch convenient; selecting a zone manually is an alternative if the phone has not selected the region you intend. Either way, verify the selected region on the Date and time screen.

How do I switch between 12-hour and 24-hour time?
On Settings > General management > Date and time, toggle Use 24-hour format. Turn it on for a 24-hour clock or off for a 12-hour clock.
This is a presentation preference, not an accuracy setting. It works independently of automatic or manual time: you do not need to disable automatic date and time to change the format, and changing the format does not fix an incorrect date, hour, or time zone.
If the time looks unfamiliar but seems to advance normally, check this switch before adjusting the clock. For example, choosing 24-hour format changes how the displayed hour is presented; it does not choose a different region or change the actual time.
Why is the time or date wrong?
First identify whether the problem is an incorrect date, an incorrect hour, or an hour that is wrong by a time-zone difference. Each points to a different setting.
- The date or hour is wrong: Check whether Automatic date and time is on. If it is off, the phone may still be using a manually entered value.
- The hour is wrong but the date looks right: Inspect Automatic time zone and, if selecting a zone manually, verify the selected region.
- Automatic settings are enabled but have not corrected the clock: Check the phone’s network connection. Network time and time-zone updates depend on information reaching the device.
- The format looks unfamiliar: Check Use 24-hour format. A display-format change does not alter the underlying time.
After checking the relevant controls, allow the phone to receive network information if automatic mode is enabled. If the menus or behavior differ from these steps, the A14 5G manual documents an update route under Software update or System updates, then Check for updates. The exact label and update availability can depend on the carrier and software version; an update is not a guaranteed cure for every clock problem.

Are clock alarms and World clock the same as system time?
No. The Date and time screen controls the phone’s system clock. Alarms, World clock, and the timer are features of the included Clock app; World clock can show other cities without changing the phone’s system time zone.
Set an alarm
Open the Clock app, add an alarm, choose its time and days, adjust sound, vibration, or snooze if desired, and tap Save. Alarm controls belong to the app, so changing the system time format or time zone is not the way to set an alarm.

In Clock, add cities to World clock to see their local times. The manual also describes a Time zone converter that compares a selected time across listed cities. Neither feature changes the A14’s system time zone. Use World clock when you want to keep track of another city while leaving the phone’s own local time setting alone.
Use the countdown timer
The Clock app also includes a countdown timer. Samsung’s 2023 A14 5G manual lists a maximum timer length of 99 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds. This is a Clock app limit, not a measure of system-clock accuracy or a setting for the phone’s date and time.
Add a clock widget
To see a clock on the Home screen, long-press an empty area of the Home screen, open Widgets, and choose an available clock widget. The offered widgets can vary by software build, so select from the options actually displayed on the phone.

“Galaxy A14” can refer to more than one model or regional variant. Samsung’s Australian A14 5G product page identifies an SM-A146P variant, while a separately named Galaxy A14 support page identifies SM-A145R/DSN. The A14 5G manual is useful model-specific guidance, but it does not prove that every A14 variant or later software build has the same screen.

The manual’s steps are a practical reference, not a promise that every regional version has the same controls. Samsung Canada’s support guidance, updated January 8, 2026, explicitly notes that screens and settings may vary by country. Software updates can also affect the labels or options you see. If a particular option—such as Set time zone based on location—is absent, use the automatic and manual controls actually present on your phone.
