A 2017 teardown report found the Samsung Chromebook Plus and Chromebook Pro nearly identical inside, with the same battery pack in each and some differences in motherboard buses and plugs. That finding compares their internal components; it does not establish that the two laptops are equally durable.
What the teardown found
In a report published June 24, 2017, Chrome Unboxed described a video showing the Samsung Chromebook Plus and Pro opened side by side. The report characterized their internals as nearly identical and said the battery packs were the same.
It also noted variations in motherboard buses and plugs, but did not explain their functions or provide measurements. The report therefore supports a broad comparison, not a detailed component-by-component assessment.
Does this show which Chromebook is more durable?
No. The teardown was discussed amid questions about whether the Pro might be less durable than the Plus after an earlier drop-test video featured the Plus. The teardown report does not describe a Pro drop test, and similar-looking internals alone cannot establish equal durability. It offers no comparative impact-test results.

What the report can—and cannot—tell you
- It can tell you: the teardown report described the models as nearly identical internally, with the same battery pack and some motherboard bus and plug variations.
- It cannot tell you: how those variations affect operation or repair, or whether either model withstands drops better.
- It is historical: the report dates to June 24, 2017. Its original ordering links do not establish present availability or whether either model is a suitable purchase today.
