Salesforce Flow limits for the familiar per-transaction operations are 100 SOQL queries and 150 DML statements. A transaction also has separate limits for records retrieved and changed, and a 10-second server CPU limit. Those allowances are shared by the work running in the transaction—not granted separately to each flow interview. That distinction is the key to understanding why a flow can hit a limit even when its own elements appear modest.
Salesforce Flow query and DML limits at a glance
Salesforce’s per-transaction Flow limits list these ceilings:
| Limit | Per-transaction ceiling | What counts |
|---|---|---|
| SOQL queries | 100 | Get Records executions; Update Records and Delete Records executions that use filter conditions. |
| SOQL-retrieved records | 50,000 | Records retrieved by SOQL queries. |
| DML statements | 150 | Create Records, Update Records, and Delete Records executions. |
| DML-processed records | 10,000 | Records processed as a result of DML statements. |
| Salesforce server CPU time | 10,000 milliseconds | CPU used in the transaction. |
| Duplicate updates | 12 in one batch | Duplicate updates allowed in a batch. |
These are separate limits: staying below 100 queries does not guarantee that a transaction stays below the record, DML, or CPU ceiling. The figures are Salesforce’s published limits; its documentation does not display a publication year for the table.
How many Get Records queries can a flow run?
There is no independent allowance of 100 Get Records operations for every flow interview. Get Records uses SOQL, and its executions draw on the transaction’s 100-query ceiling, alongside qualifying Update Records and Delete Records operations and any other query-consuming work in that transaction.

In a bulk run, Salesforce creates an interview for each record. When interviews for the same flow reach the same element, Salesforce can bulkify similar operations and group work, reducing the number of separate queries or DML statements. This is an efficiency mechanism, not a separate limit pool: the grouped work still consumes the transaction’s shared resources.
Do flow interviews share governor limits?
A flow interview is one running instance of a flow; a transaction is the unit of work whose operations share governor limits and commit or roll back together. They are not interchangeable. An autolaunched flow runs as part of the transaction that launched it, so its operations share limits with the launching Apex or process and other work in that transaction.

Screen flows and waits can introduce transaction boundaries. Salesforce says a Screen, Local Action, or Wait element ends the existing transaction and begins a new one. A paused interview resumes after a Wait in a new batch transaction; that batch can include other resumed interviews with the same user ID, execution time, and flow version ID.
Design a screen or wait because the flow’s behavior calls for that boundary, not as a casual way to “reset limits.” Salesforce recommends considering a boundary when a flow is likely to exceed governor limits in its transaction, but the boundary changes when and how work executes.

How to reduce query and record-update pressure
- Keep data operations out of loops where possible. Collect the records or values to handle, then use a collection-based operation rather than issuing repeated operations for each item.
- Look beyond the flow. Other flows, Apex, triggers, and automation in the same transaction can consume query, DML, and CPU capacity.
- Trace the transaction before changing the design. Establish what launched the flow, what else runs with it, and where any transaction boundary occurs.
- Review element-level behavior. Identify repeated Get Records operations and Update Records or Delete Records elements using filter conditions, as well as the automation that invokes them.
Salesforce’s flow monitoring documentation points to run and element analytics, on-canvas element run data, screen-flow reports, and persistent logging options. Availability and configuration depend on flow type and org setup.
What happens when a flow exceeds a governor limit?
Salesforce states: “If an element causes the transaction to exceed governor limits, the system rolls back the entire transaction.” The rollback applies even if the element has a fault connector. A fault path therefore does not make a governor-limit exception safe or preserve the transaction’s changes.

Other Flow limits have different scopes
Do not confuse per-transaction query and DML ceilings with limits on an individual interview or on an org’s flow capacity. Salesforce’s Flow limits per org page lists examples in these separate categories:
- Interview size: approximately 1 MB. An interview that exceeds the maximum cannot be persisted or paused.
- Flow versions: 50 versions per flow.
- Flow interview heap: 215 MB total per interview on API version 61.0 and later. Salesforce says API version 60.0 and earlier used 750 MB. Flow heap usage is not reported; Apex debug-log heap figures refer to Apex governor limits, not this separate Flow limit.
- Schedule-triggered interviews: up to 250,000 per 24 hours or 200 times the number of eligible user licenses, whichever is greater.
- Active and total flows: caps vary by edition. Salesforce lists different limits for Essentials or Professional compared with Enterprise, Unlimited, Performance, or Developer Editions. Marketing flows have separate edition-specific limits.
These org and interview restrictions do not change the 100-query or 150-DML per-transaction ceilings. For the exact edition-specific capacity figures, use Salesforce’s current org-limits page rather than applying a single number across editions or flow types.

A practical troubleshooting order
- Identify the transaction boundary. Determine whether the flow is autolaunched in an existing transaction or resumes after a Screen, Local Action, or Wait.
- Inventory work sharing that transaction. Include the invoking Apex or process, related flows, triggers, and other automation.
- Find repeated operations. Check Get Records, filter-based Update Records and Delete Records, and record changes performed in loops.
- Bulkify where appropriate. Use collections and grouped operations when several interviews or records can be handled together.
- Use run and element data to narrow the cause. Salesforce describes analytics and logging options in its flow monitoring guidance; which options are available depends on your org and flow type.
For broader behavior and design considerations, Salesforce’s How Flows Run in Transactions and Flow Limits and Considerations explain transaction execution and general Flow constraints.
