For most buyers, the RTX 5070 Ti is the better value if it costs substantially less than the RTX 5080. Both have 16 GB of GDDR7 in NVIDIA’s cited product material, while NVIDIA positions the RTX 5080 higher in its lineup. But the available evidence does not establish a dependable gaming-performance percentage between them across games and settings. Compare the actual prices of the specific cards you can buy, then weigh your target resolution, features, power supply, and case fit.
RTX 5080 vs. RTX 5070 Ti at a glance
| Comparison | RTX 5080 | RTX 5070 Ti |
|---|---|---|
| NVIDIA launch price (2025) | $999 (NVIDIA) | $749 (NVIDIA) |
| Memory cited in NVIDIA product material | 16 GB GDDR7 (NVIDIA) | 16 GB GDDR7 (NVIDIA) |
| CUDA cores | not stated in the cited product material | 8,960 (NVIDIA) |
| Memory interface | not stated in the cited product material | 256-bit (NVIDIA) |
| Total graphics power | not stated in the cited product material | 300 W (NVIDIA) |

NVIDIA notes that specifications can vary by add-in-card manufacturer. The figures above describe the cited product information, not every partner card.
Which card is the better value?
Use the current price gap between comparable partner cards—not the launch-price gap alone. NVIDIA announced the RTX 5080 at $999 and RTX 5070 Ti at $749 in 2025. Those are historical launch prices, not a promise of what either card costs now. NVIDIA’s announcement also said RTX 5080 availability would begin January 30, with RTX 5070 Ti availability in February.
U.S. retail reports from October 2026 illustrate how far street prices may diverge from launch figures, but they are dated observations, not live quotes. PC Gamer reported Amazon offers near $1,653.47 for an RTX 5080 and $1,185 for an RTX 5070 Ti on October 1, 2026. PC Gamer’s price tracker described both as considerably above MSRP. Separately, Tom’s Hardware reported a $1,099 median street price for the RTX 5070 Ti against its $749 MSRP in an October 2026 guide. Tom’s Hardware’s guide uses a different price measure, so do not treat the figures as interchangeable.
#1 Best Overall
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4. System Requirements: Minimum 850W PSU with 16-pin 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) connector required. Verify before purchasing. OC mode: 2685 MHz/ Default mode: 2655 MHz (Boost Clock)
- SFF-Ready enthusiast GeForce card compatible with small-form-factor builds
- Axial-tech fans feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- Vapor chamber ensures efficient heat transfer for lower GPU temps
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal heat transfer, lowering GPU temperatures for enhanced performance and reliability
Check same-day prices for the exact models you are considering. A large premium for the RTX 5080 makes the RTX 5070 Ti more compelling if it meets your needs; a smaller gap may change the calculation. The available evidence here does not support a universal gaming-performance percentage with which to justify a particular premium.
What the performance comparison does—and does not—show
NVIDIA displays the RTX 5080 above the RTX 5070 Ti in its GeForce 50-series lineup. Its accompanying comparison, however, is a feature-assisted scenario: 4K max settings with DLSS Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction, frame generation on 40-series models, and Multi Frame Generation in 4X mode on 50-series models. NVIDIA’s comparison describes those conditions; it should not be read as a native-rendering benchmark or a general uplift figure.

- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4. System Requirements: Minimum 850W PSU with 16-pin 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) connector required. Verify before purchasing.
- Military-grade components deliver rock-solid power and longer lifespan for ultimate durability. Compatibility: 348mm (13.7") length, 3.6 slots, 4.3 lbs. Confirm case clearance and slot spacing. GPU bracket included.
- Protective PCB coating helps protect against short circuits caused by moisture, dust, or debris
- 3.6-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads
Upscaling renders a game at a lower internal resolution and reconstructs the output. Frame generation creates additional displayed frames rather than rendering every displayed frame directly. These features can improve perceived smoothness or performance in supported games, but their results depend on the game and settings. Keep feature-assisted results separate from native rendering when comparing cards.
A reliable head-to-head gaming claim needs a named test suite and matching conditions: games, resolution, graphics settings, driver version, and whether upscaling or frame generation is enabled. The available comparison material does not establish a controlled, representative gaming percentage for these two cards, so a precise uplift would be misleading.

Choose based on your games, resolution, and settings
- Lean toward the RTX 5070 Ti if its price is meaningfully lower and the performance of the specific card is adequate for the games and settings you plan to use.
- Consider the RTX 5080 if its higher position in NVIDIA’s lineup fits your priorities and the price premium is acceptable to you. Do not infer a precise frame-rate advantage from the lineup or NVIDIA’s feature-assisted graphic alone.
- Check your actual game mix. Results can differ by title, resolution, graphics settings, and use of DLSS or frame generation. A card that makes sense for one set of games may not be the best buy for another.
- Set expectations for native versus feature-assisted play. Decide whether you care about native rendering, DLSS upscaling, ray reconstruction, or generated frames, and compare like with like.
Check the exact card’s fit and power requirements
The GPU name does not tell you whether a particular partner card fits your case or suits your power supply. Board dimensions, cooling, connectors, and power guidance can differ across models. NVIDIA’s RTX 5070 Ti reference information lists 300 W total graphics power and 750 W recommended system power based on a specified test PC, but NVIDIA also says add-in-card specifications can vary. Check NVIDIA’s product page and the manufacturer’s page for the exact SKU before buying.
- Compare the card’s length and thickness with the space available in your case, including room around the card for airflow.
- Confirm the required power connector and that your power supply has the appropriate connection.
- Follow the board maker’s recommended system power for that specific model; do not assume the reference figure applies to every partner card.
- Review the retailer’s return policy in case the card does not fit or work with your system as expected.
Buying decision
Start with current, comparable prices and the games and settings you care about. If the RTX 5070 Ti is substantially cheaper, its 16 GB of GDDR7 and NVIDIA’s higher-positioned RTX 5080 competitor make it the stronger value candidate—but the available evidence does not quantify a general performance gap. Pay extra for the RTX 5080 only if its specific price and your own requirements justify doing so. Before ordering either, verify the exact board’s specifications against your PC.
