The RTX 5070 Ti is the faster, higher-memory option; the RTX 5070 is the better fit if its lower price matters more than the Ti’s extra performance and 4 GB of VRAM. In Tom’s Hardware’s rasterization tests, the RTX 5070 Ti led by 20% at 1440p and 24% at 4K. Which card is the better buy depends on the actual prices you can find and the resolution and settings you plan to use.
RTX 5070 vs. RTX 5070 Ti: key differences
NVIDIA’s reference specifications show the Ti has more CUDA cores and memory, along with higher power requirements. These figures describe the reference designs; partner cards can differ in physical dimensions, cooling, connectors, and other specifications.

How much faster is the RTX 5070 Ti?
In Tom’s Hardware’s review-suite rasterization results, the RTX 5070 was 20% slower than the RTX 5070 Ti at 1440p and 24% slower at 4K. Those are comparisons from that outlet’s tests, not a promise of the same gain in every game. Results vary with the title, settings, and system.

That gap makes the Ti the stronger choice if you want more GPU headroom, particularly at 4K or with demanding settings. The 5070 can still be the sensible purchase when its price is substantially lower or your performance needs do not justify paying extra. Does the Ti’s extra 4 GB of VRAM matter?
The RTX 5070 Ti has 16 GB of GDDR7, compared with 12 GB on the RTX 5070. More capacity can help with games that use large amounts of GPU memory, high-resolution textures, and memory-heavy workloads. It does not by itself guarantee higher frame rates; the benefit depends on whether the task would otherwise be constrained by memory.

Is the RTX 5070 Ti worth the extra money?
NVIDIA announced US launch MSRPs of $749 for the RTX 5070 Ti and $549 for the RTX 5070 in January 2025, a $200 launch-price difference. Those are historical launch prices, not current October 2026 street prices. Compare the actual prices of the specific cards available to you before deciding which offers better value; current prices and stock are not established here.
- Lean toward the Ti if the price gap is acceptable for the extra performance and 16 GB memory.
- Lean toward the 5070 if it is meaningfully cheaper and its performance and 12 GB memory meet your needs.
- Compare exact models rather than assuming every partner card follows the reference specifications or price.
NVIDIA’s own performance graphic should not be read as a native-rendering comparison: its stated 1440p maximum-settings test uses DLSS Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction, with Multi Frame Generation 4X enabled on 50-series cards. What if you are upgrading from an RTX 4070 Super?
A move from a nearby-generation card may deliver less than the 5070-versus-5070-Ti comparison suggests. In TechSpot’s 16-game 1440p test suite, the RTX 5070 averaged 1% faster than the RTX 4070 Super in that test configuration. That is a small average difference in that suite, not a universal result for every game or workload. Owners of older or slower GPUs may have a different upgrade case. NVIDIA lists 750 W recommended system power for the RTX 5070 Ti and 650 W for the RTX 5070. These are reference recommendations; the appropriate PSU depends on the full system, and board partners may give different guidance for their cards.

- Check the exact card’s PSU connector requirements and the power supply’s available connections.
- Confirm card length, thickness, and case clearance against the specific model’s dimensions.
- Use the board maker’s specifications for the chosen card rather than assuming every RTX 5070 or 5070 Ti has the same cooler or power needs.
NVIDIA’s reference specifications are a starting point; the exact model’s published requirements should guide compatibility checks.
