For a value-focused US buyer, the RTX 5070 is the better buy at the October 2026 prices cited here: Tom’s Hardware puts its median street price at $659, versus $1,099 for the RTX 5070 Ti. The Ti is faster and has 16 GB of VRAM, but its 67% price premium is far larger than its roughly 25% advantage in the cited 1440p raster benchmark. The better choice depends on the price you can actually pay, your resolution and settings, and whether your games or workloads benefit from the Ti’s extra performance and memory.

Which offers better value for money?

At the October 2026 US median street prices reported by Tom’s Hardware, the RTX 5070 offers better value for most budget-conscious buyers. Its $659 median is $440 below the RTX 5070 Ti’s $1,099 median. In the 16-game raster suite reported by Windows Central from Tom’s Hardware results, the Ti averaged about 25% more frames at 1440p Ultra—not enough to match its approximately 67% higher median price.

That verdict is tied to this dated US price snapshot, not a permanent ranking. Check the final price of the exact card in stock: retailer, seller, model, shipping and checkout discounts can change the comparison. The original MSRPs—$549 for the RTX 5070 and $749 for the Ti—are historical reference points, not evidence that either card is currently available at that price.

Comparison RTX 5070 RTX 5070 Ti
Tom’s Hardware median US street price, October 2026 $659 $1,099
Historical MSRP listed by PC Gamer in its October 2026 price watch $549 $749
VRAM (NVIDIA reference specifications) 12 GB GDDR7 16 GB GDDR7
CUDA cores (NVIDIA reference specifications) 6,144 8,960

The historical MSRP figures and retailer snapshots are reported by PC Gamer’s October 1, 2026 price watch. It listed a $779 Walmart offer and other RTX 5070 checks around $800–$850; for the Ti, it listed a $1,149.99 Newegg offer and checks around $1,150–$1,180. These are volatile listings, not guaranteed prices or like-for-like tests of every card model. The Newegg discount noted in that price watch required account creation and email details.

How much faster is the RTX 5070 Ti?

The Ti leads in the reported gaming suites at all three resolutions. The following results are averages, not predictions for every game or PC. Windows Central reports Tom’s Hardware’s results for a 16-game rasterization suite at Ultra settings:

Rasterization suite, average FPS RTX 5070 RTX 5070 Ti Ti lead
1080p Ultra 105.8 124.9 About 18%
1440p Ultra 80.4 100.3 About 25%
4K Ultra 46.7 61.2 About 31%

At 1080p, either card can deliver strong average frame rates in that suite, so the Ti’s price premium is especially difficult to justify on performance alone. At 1440p, its lead is more noticeable, while at 4K it provides the largest uplift of the three tested resolutions. Whether that makes it worth paying more depends on your games, desired settings and the actual price gap.

Windows Central also reports results for a separate six-game ray-tracing suite and a 22-game combined suite. These are distinct test scopes; do not treat them as a single benchmark:

Reported suite, average FPS GPU 1080p 1440p 4K
Ray tracing, six games RTX 5070 97.4 69.8 36.4
Ray tracing, six games RTX 5070 Ti 117.5 88.5 48.9
Combined, 22 games, Ultra RTX 5070 103.4 77.4 43.6
Combined, 22 games, Ultra RTX 5070 Ti 122.9 97.0 57.6

Benchmark averages reflect the games and settings in each reported suite, and performance varies by title and system. For another point of comparison, Tom’s Hardware’s October 2026 GPU guide lists 103.8 / 74.0 / 37.6 FPS for the RTX 5070 and 123.7 / 92.0 / 52.8 FPS for the Ti at 1080p / 1440p / 4K. Those figures belong to that guide’s own test suite; they should not be combined with Windows Central’s reported averages.

Is the RTX 5070 Ti worth the extra cost?

It can be, but the case depends on what you get for the price difference. In the October 2026 US median snapshot, the Ti costs about 67% more while delivering roughly 18% more raster performance at 1080p, 25% at 1440p and 31% at 4K in the cited 16-game suite. That is a poor price-to-performance trade for a buyer focused on value. If the Ti’s price falls close to the 5070’s, or your priority is higher-resolution performance and the extra memory, the premium may make more sense.

  • Choose the RTX 5070 if its lower purchase price matters most, you mainly play at 1080p or 1440p, and the card meets your target frame rate in your games.
  • Consider the RTX 5070 Ti if you play demanding games at 4K, want the higher performance shown in the relevant benchmarks, or have a workload that benefits from 16 GB rather than 12 GB of VRAM.
  • Recheck the comparison if prices diverge from the October 2026 snapshot. Compare actual checkout prices for the specific models, not just the names or launch MSRPs.

Does the Ti’s extra VRAM matter?

NVIDIA’s reference specifications list 16 GB of GDDR7 for the RTX 5070 Ti and 12 GB for the RTX 5070. The larger buffer may be useful when a game or other workload needs more memory, particularly with demanding graphics settings or high-resolution assets. Capacity alone does not establish how much faster a card will be: the benefit depends on whether your particular game or workload is constrained by VRAM.

NVIDIA also lists 8,960 CUDA cores for the Ti against 6,144 for the 5070, alongside 1,406 versus 988 AI TOPS and 133 versus 94 TFLOPS of ray-tracing performance. These are reference-specification figures, not a substitute for game-specific benchmarks or a guarantee of a proportional speed increase.

What should you check before buying a card?

NVIDIA cautions that add-in-card specifications can differ from its Founders Edition or reference design. A particular manufacturer’s card may have different dimensions, clock settings, cooling, connectors and power requirements. Verify the exact board model on its vendor product page and confirm it fits your case and power supply before ordering.
