Its official Wiki describes ROSA Fresh 13.1 as a home-user release based on the ROSA 13 platform, with an RPM package system managed primarily through DNF. The release page lists kernel 6.12 LTS, glibc 2.40 and systemd 256; those figures describe ROSA Fresh 13.1, not every ROSA product. The details below reflect the ROSA Wiki pages reviewed on October 4, 2026, and release information may change.
What is ROSA Linux?
ROSA is a family of Linux distributions. The ROSA Wiki presents ROSA Fresh 13.1 as the home-user distribution based on the ROSA 13 platform. The project describes its package base as original and says it has been independent since 2012. That is ROSA’s own characterization of its history and platform.
The project says it offers releases with different graphical environments and emphasizes localization and hardware support. Its Wiki also describes goals and capabilities such as quick installation, custom repositories created through ABF, support for nonstandard Wi-Fi adapters, and automatic NVIDIA driver installation. These are project statements, not guarantees that a particular computer, adapter, language or graphics card will work without issue.
What does ROSA Fresh 13.1 include?
The ROSA Wiki’s ROSA Fresh 13.1 description lists the following platform components. The Wiki page does not state a publication year for these version details.

How does ROSA manage packages?
ROSA documents RPM as its package format and DNF as its package manager. DNF works with software repositories, resolves dependencies, verifies package signatures and integrity, and handles installation, removal and updates. This model lets users install and maintain software through packages rather than managing each application’s files manually.

Understand the repository branches
The Wiki divides ROSA repositories into main, non-free and community contrib branches. Each branch has regular, updates and testing channels. The distinction matters because the source and quality-control expectations are not the same across branches.
- Main: The primary repository branch documented by ROSA.
- Non-free: A separate repository branch for non-free packages.
- Contrib: Packages built by ROSA community members. The Wiki says these are not covered by the project’s quality-assurance control and may be outdated or fail to work.
ROSA advises ordinary users not to enable testing sources. If you need software from contrib or testing, weigh the possibility of older or unreliable packages against the reason you need them.

Where can you find ROSA documentation and help?
For product guides and technical documentation, start with the ROSA Wiki. Its ROSA Fresh page includes the release description, while the broader ROSA knowledge base covers ROSA products and tools, including areas such as virtualization, migration, ROSA Chrome, ROSA Mobile and development environments.
Use ROSA Linux Bugzilla to report bugs affecting released or development ROSA Desktop Linux distributions. Bugzilla is for tracking issues, not technical assistance; its page directs support requests to the forums and points users to Wiki guides and solutions. Some actions, including filing a bug, require an account and login.
