Rogers Anyplace TV for Digital TV subscribers was decommissioned on October 10, 2021. After that date, customers could no longer use its app or online portal to watch their subscribed programming on a computer or mobile device. Rogers directed affected customers to Ignite TV instead.
What happened on October 10, 2021?
Rogers ended Anyplace TV access for customers with legacy Digital TV packages. The shutdown covered viewing through the mobile app and web streaming portal; it was not described as cancellation of the underlying Digital TV subscription. In a notice reproduced by MobileSyrup on October 7, 2021, Rogers said subscribers would no longer be able to view subscribed programming on computers or mobile devices via Rogers Anyplace TV.
A Rogers community moderator had already stated on June 11, 2021, that Anyplace TV for Digital TV packages would be decommissioned effective October 10. The date refers to 2021, not a current or upcoming shutdown.
Why did the app stop working?
The app and online portal were the means of accessing Anyplace TV away from the television. Once Rogers decommissioned that service, those access routes stopped providing subscribed programming. The announced change concerned the Anyplace TV viewing service for Digital TV packages; it did not say that customers’ entire Digital TV service was ending.

What replaced Rogers Anyplace TV?
Rogers pointed affected subscribers toward its Ignite TV platform and app, describing them as a way to access TV, movies, and music across platforms. That direction does not establish that every legacy Digital TV package, location, or device can use Ignite TV without a plan change. Check Rogers’ current service eligibility and package requirements before choosing a replacement.
When comparing options, confirm that the service supports your Rogers package and location, and check which computers, phones, tablets, and TV devices it supports. Also verify live and on-demand availability, recording or PVR controls, downloads, and whether switching requires a new bundle or equipment. The shutdown notice identifies Ignite TV as Rogers’ migration path; it does not establish that a generic streaming stick restores Anyplace TV access.

What was Anyplace TV?
Rogers introduced Anyplace TV Home Edition in December 2012 as a companion to its NextBox service. Its launch announcement described tools to search and navigate listings, use a phone or tablet as a virtual remote, manage PVR recordings, and stream 25 channels live within the home. These launch features explain the app’s original role, but they are not a description of what remained available at shutdown.
In investor material from approximately 2014, Rogers reported about 850,000 registered users and more than 10,000 on-demand assets. Later Rogers support material for the newer Anyplace TV app described access to over 250 live and on-demand channels, depending on package, and the ability to move an on-demand session between devices without restarting. These figures describe different snapshots and product material; they should not be read as a single guaranteed channel count or current offering.

Is this the same as the 2026 Rogers Xfinity app retirement?
No. The Anyplace TV shutdown for legacy Digital TV packages took effect on October 10, 2021. Rogers separately says the Rogers Xfinity (Shaw) app is retiring on April 28, 2026, with migration to a new Rogers Xfinity app. That later app change is a different event and does not change the Anyplace TV shutdown date.
