Use the service guide for your exact Rigol oscilloscope model before considering teardown. The available official procedure here is for the MSO5000-E, not every Rigol series. Rigol says disassembly should be performed only by authorized or qualified personnel; if a repair is beyond your training or requires calibration, contact Rigol service.
Why the exact Rigol model matters
“Rigol oscilloscope” covers multiple product families, and their internal layouts and service procedures should not be assumed to match. The official RIGOL MSO5000-E Service Guide includes a “Chapter 1 Disassembly and Assembly,” but it is specific to the MSO5000-E. It is not evidence that the same steps or tools apply to another model.
Find your model designation on the instrument, then locate its matching documentation through the RIGOL Support Center, which lists user, data, programming, quick, performance-verification, and application manuals, along with software, firmware, and video tutorials. Confirm that any service guide you use names your model or family.

Safety and qualification come before teardown
The RIGOL MSO5000-E Service Guide states: “Ensure that the power supply is cut off before disassembling the instrument. Only well-trained professional personnel or qualified personnel are allowed to disassemble the instrument.” This warning applies to that guide and is a strong reason not to treat oscilloscope teardown as a routine owner repair.

The guide also says not to disassemble the instrument unless the work requires it. It directs technicians to take anti-static precautions, use proper tools and the correct sequence, and take care around metal structures to avoid damage or injury. Follow the applicable guide rather than improvising an opening procedure. The available documentation does not establish that a particular repair is safe or feasible for an untrained owner.
Tools named for the MSO5000-E procedure
For the MSO5000-E, the guide’s required-tools list names a Phillips screwdriver T10/T20 and a BNC socket wrench. These are model-specific entries in that service guide, not a universal Rigol toolkit.

- Phillips screwdriver T10/T20: the sizes named by the MSO5000-E guide.
- BNC socket wrench: also named in the MSO5000-E guide.
The guide provides the disassembly chapter and illustrations for the exact sequence. Consult that document for the procedure; do not infer fastener locations or removal steps from the tool list alone.
Decide whether to seek factory service
Rigol describes factory-return maintenance using original parts, calibration to factory standards when needed, and a service warranty. Regional availability and applicable terms should be confirmed with Rigol. No repair price, turnaround time, or warranty status for an individual instrument is established here.

- Digital DIY oscilloscope uses ARM Cortex-M3 processor and contains a 2.4-inch color TFT display, which can be used as an ARM development test board.
- Let you effectively observe and measure signal waveforms in many occasions such as audio, video synchronization, low-frequency switching power supply, infrared receiving and transmitting.
- Can make a tailor-made software development on the basis of this kit, which can be can be changed to millivoltmeter, data recorder, etc.
- The variety of components is suitable for students to understand the oscilloscope structure and principles, and do in-line component , and chip component training.
- The oscilloscope kit is a kit specially designed for professional teaching and training in electronics. Please note that this kit need to be assembled by yourself.
Rigol’s repair request form asks for the model, serial number, purchase date, accessories, and a description of the failure. Use those details to explain the fault when contacting service or submitting a request.
A practical route from fault to verified instrument
- Record the model and serial number. Use the instrument’s identification label so you can seek documentation and service for the right unit.
- Check the matching official guide and service route. Start with the RIGOL Support Center for documentation, then review service options if the work exceeds your qualifications or needs factory support.
- Describe the failure clearly if requesting service. Include the model, serial number, purchase date, accessories, and failure description requested on Rigol’s repair request form.
- Disassemble only if qualified and using the applicable guide. For MSO5000-E work, consult its service guide for the sequence and illustrations; do not transfer those steps to another series.
- Check post-repair verification requirements. Use documentation for the exact model rather than assuming that a successful power-on establishes measurement performance.
Verification after repair
Rigol’s MSO5000 family page lists a Performance Verification Guide, PVA25101-1110, with a release date of 2024-01-30. That listing establishes that the guide exists and its stated release date; it does not give the tests or acceptance limits. Consult the verification guide itself for those requirements, and make sure it applies to the instrument being serviced.
